AF reenlistment bonus. . •
(AFNS) — When a bonus is added to the list of reasons to stay in t
Air Force, the decision is an easier one to make.
On Oct. 1, the Air Force authorized bonuses for re-enlisting in 214
career fields. Of these, 157 were for Zone-A and -B airmen, those nor-
mally in the first or second term of enlistment. Another 57 were for
Zone-C airmen between 10 and 14 years of service.
If career-force levels are met in a skill, bonuses may be reduced or
discontinued, but, in general, are continued to maintain the improved re-
tention.
Skilled, experienced people are vital to the Air Force's future.
Officials look to the added incentive of the bonus to help ensure that
future.
For more information on bonuses, contact MSgt. Steve Crisler, AFI
Career Advisor at 7723.
AF Leadership Award. . .
RANDOLPH AFB, Texas (AFNS) — An award to recognize base-level
Air Force leaders has been approved by Air Force Chief of Staff Gen.
Lew Allen Jr.
The Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award "will recognize the accom-
plishments of base-level enlisted and officer leaders who have demon-
strated the highest leadership qualities in their duties and lives,"
said Lt. Col. Paul H. Gottschalk, deputy chief, Special Programs Division.
Air Force Manpower and Personnel Center officials said the award
will be given annually to two enlisted service members and two officers.
To be eligible, service members must be working in active leader-
ship roles such as squadron, group or wing commander; or basic military
training instructor, flight-line supervisor or first sergeant. Nomi-
nations begin May 1 with final selection in September.
Affirmative action. .
.
The Chief of Naval Operations announced plans for the development of
the fiscal year 82 Navy Affirmative Action Plan. The first Navy-wide
Affirmative Action Plan which expires at the end of fiscal year 81 was
phased across five years. The long term objective is to make permanent
all equal opportunity efforts within the chain of command. A flag officer
is designated to direct the development group. Input to the development
process is being solicited from all major claimants and echelon II
commands.
