Soccer leagues complete season
Sunday with ‘All Star’ game
An "All-Star" competition on
Supday in the Base Gym will
bring to a close an exciting and
interesting experiment in youth
sports which began about two months
ago under the direction of the
Youth Center.
Soccer, a sport with which the
majority of Americans are unfami-
liar, was introduced in its indoor
version to local youngsters and
parents in the first part of Novem-
ber. The abbreviated season of ap-
proximately six weeks was intended
to test response for future youth
soccer programs. The response was
overwhelming, as some 120 young-
sters registered.
"Post"Season All-Star" competi-
tion will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday
with play by the Third Divi-
sion team. The other divisional
game will follow immediately. The
first annual "Christmas All-Star
Tournament" will culminate with a
game between the First Division
team "All-Stars" pitted against the
adult volunteers in the program.
Come out and see for yourself just
how exciting this worldwide sport
can be.
