CRYMOGÆA
311
13733 Styrkari f.: In error for StarkaSarson.
I3 9 21-22 Invida fatorum series etc.: Lucan. Phars. I 70—71.
1404 Aronis: Must certainly render the reading “ars” in AM
468 4to (and 133 fol.); the other manuscripts have “Åskels”,
see Njala I, 1875, p. 78.
14021-22 Mæcolphus: Snækolfr Njåls saga, ch. 83: certainly
AJ’s misreading.
14022 Dungalsbæ: Thus AM 468 4to and one or two other
manuscripts; most have Duggals-, DungaSs, Dungans, see Njala
I, 1875, p. 393.
14226 27 ex Hebridibus oriundus: AJ’s misunderstanding of
Njåls saga, ch. 84, where Kari first appears on the scene; cf. Isl.
fornrit XII, pp. xv-xvi.
14232-33 Non illo melior etc.: Ovid. Met. I 322—3.
1436—1458 Repeated from I 24323—24513 with some insignifi-
cant alterations, see notes ad loc.
14331 Saudey: Sandey I 24412, see note ad loc.
14437 Carinam: ratem I 24510; siglutré Flat. I 532.
I451-4 Fuerat — longam: Not in Supplem., nor in its source,
Orms Jsåttr Storolfssonar in Flat. AJ evidently later found this
information, which is in a different place in Flat. (I 470) ; there
it says that that part of the ship’s keel that rested on the ground
while it was being built measured 74 ells, and that there were 52
oars on each side; the error, 72 for 74, must be AJ’s.
I4511-18 The genealogy could have come from Landn. (1900,
p. 153), but it appears also in Eyrbyggja saga, for example.
14519—14834 In the main a repetition of I 27813—28128, but
abridged to some extent; at the beginning (II I4 5 21-28) AJ re-
peats information from I 2 7 423-25, 2 7 5 29-34.
14520 fulmen septemtrionis: Here AJ has written in the mar-
gin of the copy inscribed to Meisner: “ut å Crantzio, ni fallor”.
This term for Haraldr harSråSi does not however appear in
Krantz, but it is used by Adam of Bremen III 17; cf. I 27121 and
note.
I468-11 Mutarat — tyrones: A more elaborate account I 27830—
27923.
1481""7 Inserted here in Crymogæa, not found in Supplem.
These speculations arise from an entry in Flateyjarannåll s. a.
