Heildartala háplöntutegunda, er fundizt hafa í Dalasýslu verður þá
294. Af þeim fjölda hef ég fundið tæplega 78% á mínu rannsóknar-
svæði. En við enn nákvæmari leit mætti ætla, að sú tala hækkaði nokk-
uð. Vil ég sérstaklega benda á 5 tegundir, er ég tel að eigi eftir að finn-
ast á rannsóknarsvæðinu, en þær eru:
Erophila verna (L.) F. Chev. Honckenya peploides (L.) Ehrh.
Gentiana amarella L. Saxifraga rivularis L.
Gentiana aurea L.
Nú teljast til háplöntuflóru landsins um 440 tegundir, ef undafífl-
arnir eru frádregnir. Sá hluti af þeim fjölda, sem tekið liefur sér ból-
festu í Dalasýslu, er þá samkvæmt framanskráðu 63.9%. (Öllum unda-
fíflunum sleppt við útreikninginn.)
SUMMARY.
1. In the summer 1949 I made a floristic investigation on vascular plants in
Dalasýsla in West-Iceland. I selected a well defined area south of the head of
Hvammsfjörður. This area embraced the valleys: Hörðudalur, Miðdalir and Hauka-
dalur.
The object of rny journey was to study the distribution of the species, search for
new ones and make a local flora for the selected area.
2. The aforementioned area is situated between Lat. 64° 53' — 65° 05' N. and
Long. 21° 14' — 22° W. The mean temperature of the three summer months June,
July and August is 9.5° C, but the mean temperature of the year is 2.8° C. The
precipiation is great and the soil is covered with snow during the coldest winter
months. The valleys which are separated by low mountains (200—600 meters) lie
10—50 meters above sea level.
The dominating types of vegetation are as follows:
The moor vegetation
The fell field vegetation
The slope vegetation.
