ample genealogical notes!
In the meantime, one can
follow the old pattern of
reporting, parenthetically,
on how folks here are
getting along. Minnesota
has been having an ex-
ceptionally good winter
when compared with four-
foot snowdrifts and con-
tinued cold spells such as
marked the winter a year
ago. The temperatures here
have hovered around the
frost mark and above it,
with little snow, and people
in the region express their
pity for folks in areas really
feeling winter’s blasts, both
to the East and the West,
and even in the Southern
states.
Quite a few from Min-
neota, and from other out-
of-town points, attended the
big event on the 29th of
March. Mentioning the
Icelandic community in
Minneota and nearby, it
might be added that there
was a genuine sense of loss
on the death of a pillar of
strength in St. Paul’s
church, where funeral
services were conducted on
the 26th of February for
Sigridur Frost. She would
have been 92 in October,
this fall, had suffered a
stroke and passed away
after a long and fruitful life
career. Sigga, as she was
always called, was a
daughter of Johannes
Halldorsson Frost and his
wife, Boranildur Kjar-
tansdottir, she from
southern Iceland and
Johannes from the north, in
Thingeyjarsysla.
Johannes Halldorsson,
born at Geitafell in Adaldal,
on the 9th of September,

Frost shortly after he came
to Milwaukee in 1873; the
English-speaking knew he
had come from Iceland and
started calling him
“Frosty.” He let that do and
simply took the name Frost
as a family name. He was a
brother-in-law of the well
known Benedikt from Aud-

there in 1878; he died in

him, in 1932. Sigridur was
