A Samplins of Hjemkomst
We found this woman knitting
things for sale at a Norwegian booth.
Close by was Dora Sigurdson at her
spinning wheel, and we regret that
her photo did not turn out.
The craftsmanship of Scandinavia
is well known and was well repre-
sented, as evidenced by the wonder-
ful rocking horses on display at the
Swedish booth and the wonderfully
decorated chest. The creator of
these costumed dolls regretted that
she did not have an lcelandic one
but promised to have one next year.
Here is a very small sample of
what we found at the festival
in Fargo-Moorehead which ran
from June 24 -27. We had a
great time and highly recom-
mend it for all Scandinavians.
(Left) The lcelandic Booth
offered a continuously running
video of lceland. Another
attraction was an exceptionally
well-organized photo album
that Douglas and Lillian
Stoelting made up of their visit
to lceland in 1992.
(Below left)
There were many demonstra-
tions of handicrafts woven
throughout the festival.
These people were busily
weaving table runners using
the colors of the Scandinavian
flags. It was a most attractive
display.

(Below) The Viking Village was
big hit. Both young and old could
test their skills at sword fighting
— viking style.
