I GOT IT—This collision occurred when three players tried for a
re-bound at the same time. The battle was fought Saturday, Oct. 3rd
between the High School and Rockville. The students won. It just
goes to show—three heads or hands aren’t always better than one.

CURVY TRANSLATOR — Paris-
born Vicki Benett, a singer and
actress — speaks five languages
including Russian. Anybody need a
shapely interpreter?
Your television staffers have
begun to behave nervously, in
anticipation of the great things
in store for Channel 8. Work has
begun on the erection of the an-
tenna tower, which will be capped,
by a $5,600 five-bay antenna, in
due time. A problem with the an-
tenna tower was the question: will
it support the 2,000 pound an-
tenna? The answer is “yes,” and
the work proceeds.
A procession of enginers, in-
out-up-down-around Building T-
44 gives evidence of the remodel-
ing plans which will include a.
new studio for live shows, a new
audio/video control room, a new
multiplexer room, and necessary
work and storage spaces.
The construction will begin soon
and the new equipment will her-
ald the arrival of spring. It is
possible that Channel 8 will go-
“off the air” several times while
the modernization takes place.
Every effort will be made to stay
“live” and to continue normal
schedules.
The two holidays in November
enable us to add seven hours of
televiewing to this month’s sche-
dule. On Veteran’s Day, Nov-
ember 11th, we will take to the
air at two p.m., with five extra
shows. They are an hour-long
“Town Hall Party,” and four half-
hour fun shows, “You Asked For
It,” “Tennessee Ernie Ford,”
“Wrestling,” and “Stars of Jazz.”
On Thanksgiving Day, Nov-
ember 22nd, Channel 8 will take
to the air-waves at one o’clock
with four hours of special holiday
material. The shows have been
selected and will be announced
next week.
Three of this week’s shows are
especiallv worthy of your viewing-
time. On Tuesday, at 9:30, “Gold-
en Showcase” presents James
Mason and Betsy Von Fursten-
berg in a romantic drama with a
circus background. The show is
“Tonight in Samarkand.”
The Milton Berle Show, on
Thursday-at-9:30, should draw a
tremendous number of fans. Berle
plays a new role, even for such
an unusual personage as himself,
as he appears as Cleopatra.
Fridav evening at nine p.m. the
Lincoln-Mercury Theater presents
its tribute to the American Over-
seas Campaign supported USO,
“Soldiers in Grease Paint.” A
partial listing of the performers
includes such fame-names as Bob
Crosby, Jane Morgan, The Mod-
emaires, Don Adams, Bob Hope,
Jayne Mansfield, the late Marilyn
Monroe, and Benny Goodman.
“Navy Screen Highlights,”
Tuesdav-at-6:15, is a 15-minute,
color film that is available to
authorized personnel from the
C.S. Naval Station Film Library.
