tiful. When this little stream reaches the bottom of the hill it
spreads itself over the meadowland beneath, helping the grass to
grow every summer. It loses its beauty, its identity, itself. But
it finds itself in the grass, in the fragrant hay, in the animals that
live on the hay and finally in the human beings who live partly
on the animals.
Selfishness loses all. Love finds the real meaning of life. For
what cause came you into the world? Your highest and noblest
self can only be realized in love, service and sacrifice — to do
justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.
For what cause came you into the world? What will you
render to the Lord for all his bounty to you?
Be sure of the foundation of your life. Know why you live as
you do. Be ready to give a reason for it. Do not, in such a matter
as life, build on opinion or custom, or what you guess is true. Make
