216 Arbók VFI 1988 Mynd 6 sýnir hvemig framtíðarvinnsla á lýsi gæti litið út. Vinnslustig lýsisins fer eftir því hvert notagildi þess á að vera. Gæti það spannað allt frá því að vera notað til smjöriíkisgerðar yfir í lyfjagerð. Ekki má gleyma því að lýsi inniheldur fjölmargar fitusýrur sem og önnur efni sem lítið er vitað um hvaða langtíma áhrif hafa á líkamann. Með betri vinnslutækni og aðferðum til að einangra þessi efni má búast við að hægt verði að rannsaka áhrif þeirra enn frekar og hefja framleiðslu á þeim á hreinu formi ef þörf krefur.
