The Navy Exchange Service Command hired an independent research firm
to conduct a survey to see how much customers save when they shop
their local NEX. In June 2004, the research firm shopped for 350 products
in various departments, including audio, clothing, shoes, cosmetics,
greeting cards, hardware, appliances, sunglasses, and toys.
The results showed that customers save an average of 21.2% (excluding sales tax savings). Savings varied in
each of these eight market areas surveyed:
