The first, a religious series entitled “This Is The Life”, will fill the 3 p.m. Sunday spot va- cated last week by “The Christo- phers” series. The second returnee, “The Bell Telephone Hour”, will replace “Playhouse 90” on Tues- day evenings at 11:15. “This is The Life” is produced in cooperation with the Lutheran Church and attempts to communi- cate age-old religious truths by clothing them in modern garb. The religious wants of a typical modern-day community are ad- ministered by the Reverend Martin in each half-hour dramatization. In the initial episode Kent Tay- lor plays a home contractor who can’t make good on a number of overdue contracts. His clients complain to the District Attorney, and he is directed to either begin construction on the homes or re- turn his clients’ deposits. Taylor fails to meet either condition and faces indictment on a fraud charge. Pastor Martin offers an honorable solution to his dilemma. The program was last aired in October, 1963 and is scheduled for a 26-week run. “The Bell Telephone Hour”, long a family favorite, reappears on this week’s schedule after a six-month absence. The hour-long musical series has been the recei- pient of many coveted media awards since its first radio per- formance in 1940. Notable among its television honors are the Na- tional Association For Better Radio and Television Award for the “outstanding entertainment program on television” for 1959, 1960 and 1962, the George F. Peabody Award for 1959 and the Look Magazine TV Award for “Best Musical Series of the Year” for 1959. This Tuesday, Conductor Donald Voorhees and the Bell Telephone Orchestra are joined by Broad- way and motion picture star Ro- bert Preston, opera singers Richard Tucker and Anna Moffo, concert pianist Grant Johannes- son and the Chad Mitchell Trio. The series will be aired twice monthly with its alternate, “The Andy Williams Show”, occupying the other two spots. Lee Remick and Joey Bishop are just two of the many big names in the entertainment field slated for guest spots on this 60-minute variety series. The two series combined will run for 26 weeks. A Texas lad rushed home from kindergarten and insisted his mo- ther buy him a set of pistols, holsters and a gun belt. “Why, whatever for, dear?” she asked. “You’re not going to tell me you need them for school?” “Yes, I do,” the boy replied. “Teacher said tomorrow she’s go- ing to start teaching us how to draw.” Armed Forces Radio-1484 MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 0000 Enchantment Of Music 0030 The Night Owl 0230 Continental Varieties 0300 Point Of Law 0305 Quarter Century Of Swing 0400 Album Time 0600 Country Junction 0655 Sign On 0700 AFRTS News 0715 Learn Icelandic 0720 Bulletin Board 0730 The Morning Show 0900 AFRTS News 0915 Coffee Break 0930 Mon: Family Theater Tue: Mr. President Wed: My Friend Irma Thu: Johnny Dollar Fri: Romance 0955 Doctor’s House Call 1000 Learn Icelandic 1005 Morning Serenade 1100 World Of Show Business 1130 Ira Cook Show 1200 Flair 1230 AFRTS News 1245 Learn Icelandic 1250 Bulletin Board 1300 Mid-day Matinee 1400 Concert Hall 1500 Analysis Of Events 1505 Country Corner 1600 Platter Party 1700 Music For Dining 1830 Current Events 1855 Learn Icelandic 1900 AFRTS News 1915 Analysis Of Events 1920 Doctor’s House Call Fri: Dateline NATO 1925 Looking Back In Sports 1930 America’s Popular Music 2000 Rocking Rhythm 2100 Rhythm At Random 2200 Jim Ameche’s Pop Concert 2255 Learn Icelandic 2300 AFRTS News 2315 Musical Interlude 2330 One Night Stand SATURDAY 0000 Music After Midnight 0100 The Night Owl 0400 Curt Massey 0425 Album Time 0655 Sign On 0700 AFRTS News 0715 Music On Parade 0730 Saturday Services 0800 Social Security File 0805 Big Jon And Sparky 0900 AFRTS News 0915 Men And Molecules 0930 Teen Time 1000 Yesterday’s Hits 1100 Sound Of Music 1200 Social Security File 1205 Navy Hour 1230 AFRTS News 1245 Bulletin Board 1300 Saturday Swingtime 1400 Tales Of The Northwest 1405 Sing Along With Mitch 1500 Country Junction 1600 Polka Party 1630 Bolero Time 1700 Music For Dining 1855 Chaplain’s Corner 1900 AFRTS News 1915 University Explorer 1930 Grand Ole’ Opry’ 1955 Tales Of The Northwest 2000 Many Faces Of Folk Music 2055 Musical Interlude 2100 Best On Wax 2200 Tonight Show 2255 AFRTS News 2310 Easy Listening SUNDAY 0000 Music ‘Til Dawn 0600 Johnny Green’s World Of Music 0655 Sign On 0700 AFRTS News 0715 The Navy Swings 0730 Catholic Services 0800 The Sunday Hymns 0835 Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir 0900 AFRTS News 0915 Music For Sunday 1100 Protestant Services 1200 Spotlight Album 1230 AFRTS News 1245 Science Editor 1300 Hollywood Bowl 1430 Hawaii Calls 1500 From The Past 1600 Invitation To Learning 1625 Latin Tempo 1705 Small World 1800 Best On Wax 1900 AFRTS News 1915 The Navy Swings 1930 Dixeland Beat 2000 The Entertainer 2105 Steve Allen Show 2200 Tonight Show 2255 AFRTS News 2310 Easy Listening
