The Radio Log
by Thomas Nugent, SN
“Potluck listening-” and “foot-
stompin’ music” are the contents
of AFRS, Keflavik’s two new
locally produced shows.
Station record librarian Char-
les “Buzz” Shipp takes to the
air with his “Potluck Show”,
heard at 11:05 a.m. Monday-Fri-
day. This show presents 25 min-
utes of the finest music from
the AFRS pop record library. As
our new deejay puts it, “I hope
my potluck provides some good
listening for our audience.”
The “foot-stompin” music is
put out by the duo of “Uncle
Nugs and Cousin Leon”. As they
expressed their thoughts on the
50-minute show heard each Satur-
day morning at 6:05 a.m., “We
take up the gap left by other
country music shows. Other shows
play either modern country or
folk music. We play the ‘oldies
but real goodies’ left untouched
by^other country deejays.”
The “stompin’ pair” don’t even
have a name for their show yet.
They’re letting the listeners se-
lect it. Whatever handle the show
goes by, the music will remain
the same. The records are selected
by Cousin Leon, a native of the
Ozark Mountains (Arkansas
branch) who claims to be a “Tall
hog at the trough when it comes
to pickin’ out foot-stompers”.
The First Step
When a crippled child walks,
it is because you took the first
step for him by giving to Easter
Seals. Won’t you do your share
by contributing today?

GIRLS GALORE
Girls, girls, girls — fifty of the
nation’s brightest, most attractive
and talented teenagers all on one
television program. Thursday
evening at 8:00 Channel 8 will
present the third annual “Miss
Teenage America Pagent”. Bud
Collyer assumes on-stage master
of ceremonies duties, while Allen
Luden and Betty White emcee the
program which originates from
the State Fair Music Hall in Dal-
las, Texas.
“I’ve Got A Secret” and “The
Sid Caesar Show” will not be seen
this week to allow for this special
program. “Peter Gunn” has been
moved to Wednesday night at
10:30 for this week only.
PROGRAM SWAPS
Several other programs have
also traded time blocs in deference
to viewer’s suggestions. “Bio-
graphy”, formerly seen on Sun-
day afternoons at 4:30, trades
places with “Mr. Wizard” previ-
ously scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the
same day.
Mid-week changes find “Lucky
Lager Sports Time” taking over
the 6:30 p.m. Wednesday time
slot, with “Encyclopedia Britan-
nica” occupying its 5 p.m. bloc
Tuesday.
Finally, the last episode of “Ad-
ventures at Scott Island” moves
to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, dropping
“Zane Grey Theater” into its 9:00
p.m. Wednesday slot.
There will be no Navy Band
Concerts during the month of
March, due to band members being
on a well deserved leave.
