Something for everyone is what
the USO brings to Keflavik this
week. Watch for the entertain-
ment-packed performance of the
Varsity Vagabonds, Thursday,
Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Fourteen from 13,770 is pretty
selective talent-scouting. That’s
what the Western Michigan Uni-
versity, at Kalamazoo picked in
the way of talent from the student
body to make up the versatile
singing group known as Varsity
Vagabonds.
They’ll bring you, via Channel
8’s studio C live facilities, music
that runs the gamut from spirit-
uals through Latin American
melodies, old favorites, popular
classics, Dixieland, and Hawaiian
as well as several exclusive Nor-
man Luboff choral arrangements.
Novelty features performed by
the troupe included two soft-shoe
dances, Men’s and women’s Bar-
bershop Quartet, and more.
Scheduled for this Saturday is
Pro-Bowl Football at 2:30 p.m.
At 5 that afternoon there will be
a special film about Winston
Churchill.
Attention Keflavik golfers! The
big special this week over Channel
8 is World Series of Golf, sched-
uled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Master’s Champion Arnold
Palmer, United States Open
Champion Ken Venturi, British
Open Champion Tony Lema and
PGA Champ Bobby Nichols vie
for golfdom’s top honor in this
third Annual World Series of
Golf.
The match takes place at the
Firestone Country Club in Akron,
Ohio. It’s the third World Series
match for Arnie (and his army).
Palmer tied for second in 1962
and was third in 1963. His three
opponents are makeing their first
World Series appearances. Fifty-
thousand dollars is up for grabs. .
