League Bowlers Hold Banquet;
AFI Captures Intramural Title,
Hockville Cops Four Trophies

The bowling ball was put back in its bag for the Intramural Bowling League Satur-
day night at their banquet at the CPO Club.
Paul Jordan, YNMC, of IDF was the master of ceremonies of this gala event. Over
200 bowlers and their wives and friends attended the feast which began at 6 p.m. It
lasted until all had their fill of the delicious food and beverages.
Among the notables in attendance were Capt and Mrs. Robert R. Sparks and Col.
and Mrs. Alan G. Long.
Captain Sparks, commanding of-
ficer of the Naval Station, was
on hand to bestow 70 trophies to
the winners of the different di-
visions. Colonel Long, Commander
of AFI, received trophies for all
the absent personnel in his com-
mand.

The winner of the Most Im-
proved Bowler trophy did not
know, nor did any but a few of
the bowlers know, til the night
of the banquet, who would get
the award. The very pleased bow-
ler was Campbell with an im-
provement of 11.513 pins over his
average at the start of the season.
In the roll-off for the National
League Championship, which was
on Feb. 9, AFI-1, the first half
winner, rolled a three game
series against Supply-2, the sec-
ond half winner. AFI-1 won the
match with a 3-1 win. High
scores for AFI-1 were: Larsen-
515, Brain-224-554, Dillman-547,
and Banker-205-544.
High scores for Supply-2 were:
Schriefer-210-221-605, Ricard-524,
and Torbeck-503.
On the same evening, the
American League had their roll-
off with 57th FIS-1, the first
half winner, rolling a three game
series against AFI-3, the second
half winner. AFI-3 won the match
with a 4-0 margin. High Scores
for AFI-3 were: Player-209-518,
McDowell-200, Ludington-221-554,
Eckardt-235-601 and Crist-212-
525.
High scores for 57th FIS-1
were: Jetton-210,543, Haynes-518,
Rauch-532 and Mudry-505.
Also that night, Admin-1, the
first half winner, battled 57th
FIS-3, the second half winner.
57th FIS-3 took the win with a
3-1 score. High honors for 57th
FIS-3 went to Laughlin with a
505 tally and for Admin-1 it was
Cabcabin with a 520.
The intramural championship
roll-offs were held on the evening
of February 11. The results are

championship was decided
by the highest number of total
pins. Fourth, fifth and sixth
places were decided on the high-
est number of pins in the run-
ners-up roll-off. The winners went

there will be a new league formed
and new league officers. On be-
