Tax Tips
Q. I enlisted in the Air Force
last year. Shortly after my
enlistment, my father died and
left me $2,000 from his estate.
Will I have to report this
money on my return?
A. No. Inheritance are not taxable
income.
Q. As an Air Force nurse, I found
that withholdings from my
salary were just about right
when I made out my tax re-
turn. However, last year, I in-
herited a large sum of money
which has accrued much inte-
rest. What should I do to wind
up even at year’s end?
A. Taxpayers are required to file
a Declaration of Estimated
Tax when their tax liability is
expected to exceed their with-
holding by $40 or more. See
page 6 of the 1040 instructions
for further information. (AFNS)

The recipe is for:
Sweet n’ Sour Pork Chops

transfer to cassarole. Saute in
a skillet:
% cup chopped onion
1 clove of garlic

14 teaspoon curry powder
3 strips lemon peel
4. Remove this from the heat and
and pour over the pork chops.
