Male Call
by Milton Caniff. creator of "Terry and the Pirates”
The Flavor Lasted and Lasted
Organization News
La st Saturday night
our refurnished dayroom
had its grand re-open-
ing in the form of a
stag party for members
of the company. Chicago
has its famous "Pump
Room." 7/e oan proudly
boast of our beautiful
"engine Room." The
boys certainly let off
steam. The "Racket-Bus-
ters" furnished the
music. Sgt. G, Irwin,
i/Sgt. Masterson and
T/Sgt. Van Auken provi-
ded the dancing and th-
eir performances tickl-
ed the customers and
everyone had a laughing
good time.
Less Sgt. H. Hagge
tfnd his boys can dish
it out but can the cus-
tomers take it? One day
last week the main cou-
rse was roasted pork
luncheon meat. After
the chow had been serv-
ed, Pfo. Lou Amrioh st-
epped into the dining
room to announce that
seconds could be had.
What are you trying to
do, Lou, shorten your
SPAK of life?
Pvt. Sidney Glickman.
Since the Armed For-
ces Radio Station goes
on the air at 1630, we
are now getting our
chow on time at Jim's
place, hurrah for the
Signal Corps, they out-
smarted Jim!
nd "Pop" White is all
set for the party he is
throwing for the ex-Hut
39'ers.
Joe miller's Detroit
love recently went to
Florida and poor Joe
is sweating reverse pr-
ocess, we think.
Red Roberts and John
Foley are having a phy-
sioal endurance contest
which Red seems to be
leading by a hair.
It's good to see Pop
bremer baok with the
gang again.
Jerry hodes is now
chasing the stulkas on
ice skates. All his ot-
her methods have flailed.
Maybe this one will
work.
Pvt. Ben Rosenthal.
FLASH! Tftiat magic po-
wer does Staff Young
have over his KPs to
make one of them report
for work four hours
early? The other morn-
ing "Bones" Rosenthal
reported to the kitchen
for duty at 0200 when
his poor old best-up
body wasn't supposed to
be there until 0600.
It seems that the or-
derly room crew is over
worked; they had . to
call in help. So, Borin
is busy painting a sign
which reads "Fred F.
Franklin, Pass Clerk."
Van de mark sure cha-
nges his story rapidly.
First, he tried to con-
vince the powers that
be that he was indisp-
ensable so that he cou-
ld get that Tec 4 rat-
ing. Now he's trying to
convince them that he's
superfluous. Wondervhy?
Bill Donnelly.
A cordial welcome is
extended to all our new
comers with the except-
ion of Pretty Boy boy-
ett. V.'ith him as Plat-
oon Sgt., there'll be
no chance for a little
honest cheating in ans-
wering the reveille roll
call. For that matter,
those of us in the Sec-
ond Platoon aren't so
well off, either.
The seriousness of
the male shortage in
the States ;was demons
trated when, after a
short correspondence,
Sgt. Schwarz received a
picture of his "Gasket
Girl." This romance fo-
ound its beginning in a
package of gaskets
where the maiden's add-
ress was uncovered and
pursued.
Sgt. Denninger left
his "space eater" with
Less Sgt. Dobyns who
promises faithfully to
keep it on its diet of
moonbeams,
"Laokaday" Lockaby
solved the disturbing
situation in the shower
where one side of the
sprinkler pours forth
hot water and the other
cold. Pfo. Lockaby just
stood there, and in

twistin' and a-turnin'"
so that one side would
not freeze while the

none other than the
