Beer-Tober Fest
The Oktoberfest Tent, by the University of Iceland
October 8 – 10, 2500ISK (3-day pass)
Once a year students, workers, mothers, children, grandmothers, garbage men,
politicians, dogs, bankers and Germans join cause with the stated goal of getting
entirely shit-faced in an event innocently dubbed Oktoberfest. Reykjavik boils one
month of debauchery into three booze-soaked days and we’ve already scribbled our
weekend ‘to do’ list on a napkin:
Thursday: Crowd surf through the October Rock Festival while sloshing our beers
to the likes of Soundspell, Lights on the Highway, Who Knew, Hoffman and Mammút.
We apologize in advance for anything embarrassing we might do.
Friday: Last year attendees broke the Icelandic national record of beer sales on
this, the “German Style” night of the festival. We hope Iceland won’t disappoint us
this year in breaking that record again. Also, we plan on eating a Bratwurst every 10
minutes until we curl up under the table. Come watch.
saturday: Put on our dirtiest over-alls and make our way to the Oktoberfest
“Hill-Billy” (Sveitaball) concert to reclaim the countryside. There we’ll party with
legendary pop group Skítamórall until we transcend time and space or pass out in a
drunken heap.
sunday: Count our bruises, hickies and try to remember what the fuck happened

bloody inflation and all, but luckily we aren‘t completely deprived of great music
crossing the Atlantic. Detroit‘s staple of the electronic music scene, Aaron Carl, is
hitting up Jacobsen with his finely crafted, deep and soulful tracks that transcend
genre. Well known for crossing over multitudes of styles, from deep house to funky
electro to club anthems, Carl has become a leading producer and dominated house
charts worldwide. Icelandic DJ Yamaho warms things up before the main man hits

unstoppable jam of the season. GusGus' single "Add This Song" has been burning
up dancefloors, blasting out of cars and playing on repeat on your roommate's
iTunes for the last months and now the superstars of Icelandic electronica are
finally releasing their new full length album "24/7". On top of it, the band is throwing
the release party at the opening of the brand new bright pink Nikita store on
Laugavegur. The whole thing goes down in the store‘s garden at 9pm, and it‘s free!

(plus their friends and family) take over Kaffibarinn on Wednesday October 7th to
offer sweet splendid music for your pleasure. Consisting of Valgeir Sigurðsson, Ben
Frost, Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon this label/collective is kinda like a close knit
little loving family. Who just also happen to be a group of music masterminds. These
