Hospital Heroes 12:58 p.m. - A 35-year old male falls from scaffold- ing, while changing a ceiling light at Naval Air Station Keflavik’s (NASKEF) Arctic Circle Running Track. 1:02 p.m. - A bystander at the track witnesses the uncon- scious fall victim and places a call to the hospital. Within moments of receiving the call for help, a pair of EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) qualified Hospital Corpsmen arrive to administer first aid and transport the patient to the medical treatment facility. “It may not seem that five or six minutes matter, but it does,” said Lt. Ewell Hollis, head of Naval Hospital Keflavik Emergency Medical Services Department. “When an emergency arises every minute counts.” Fortunately for all involved, the aforementioned scenario was a drill.
