*CNO Guidance and the Ombudsman
Program
CNO Guidance for 2006 c^lls on the Navy to
“expand the Ombudsman Program to better meet
the needs of our families.” The VCNO directed
the Naval Inspector General to conduct an in-
depth review of the Navy Family Ombudsman
Program. To do this, The Naval Inspector General
is conducting a web-based survey. Whether an
Ombudsmen Coordinator, Assembly Chairperson,
or Ombudsman, all are key members of the Navy
Family Ombudsman Program, and assistance is
requested in completing the survey. Completion
of this survey is voluntary and responses are kept
confidential. Only group data will be reported.
Inputs and insights will be used by the Naval
Inspector General to help analyze the current
program. The survey is available at: and will
be available through Friday, Dec. 2. The survey
asks questions of CO/XO/CMC’s, Ombudsmen,
Ombudsmen Coordinators and Assembly
Chairpersons, as well as Service members and
their spouses (including Command Support Team
spouses). The Navy is releasing a NAVADMIN
message announcing the Study and survey, but
please use your own communications and contact
lists to help ensure all levels of potential respon-
dents are aware of the effort.Thank you for being
a valuable part of our Navy Team. Together we
can make this already successful program even
more vibrant on behalf of the Navy family. If you
have any questions, team member phone numbers
are posted on the survey cover page.
