50 vie in elimination tournament;
12 emerge with wrestling titles
Elimination bouts, followed by 12 championship mat-
ches, were held during last Saturday's wrestling tour-
nament in the Fieldhouse.
In the 70 - 99 lb. weight class Tony Lacroix pinned
Sam Smith, and John Hume
beat Pat Baker in the 100-
120 lb. class. In the 118
lb. group Jack Willis of
the Marines pinned Jeff
King of the high school.
Ray Guerra of NavComm-
Sta topped five wrestlers
in the 126 lb. group, win-
ning the championship in
54 seconds over Mike Sca-
lice of the high school.
Ivan Winger of NavSta
placed second, pinning
Scalice in one minute, 9
seconds of the second per-
iod.
Ben Murray of the high
school emerged champion of
the 134 lb. class, pinning
Jack Jumper of the high
school in one minute, four
seconds. Jumper defeated
Paul Weathers for second
place, 8 points to 3.
Dick Dinse of the Ma-
rines defeated A1 Chiaro-
lanzio in one minute, 18
seconds of the second per-
iod and Dave Mayer in one
minute, 44 seconds of the
second. Mayer of NavSta
placed second by forfiet
in the 142 lb. weight
class.
In the 150 lb. group,
Stan Dingman of NavSta won
over Mike Dunn, 11 to 6,
and Terry Reissler of the
Marines defeated Steve
Melenick in 50 seconds of
the first round in the 158
lb. class. In the 167 lb.
group, Rick Warren pinned
Richard Taylor of the Ma-
rines in one minute, nine
seconds of the first per-
iod for second place in
this group.
Of the six participants
in the 177 lb. class,
Ralph Padilla of NavComm-
Sta emerged champion, and
Frank Mirabal was second.
Moving into heavier
bouts, Jack Veach of Nav-
Sta pinned Mitch Snyder of
the Marines in one minute,
seven seconds of the first
round in the 190 lb.
group, and in the heavy-
weight match Gary Thompson
of the Marines emerged
champion over Frank Con-
durso of NavSta in one
minute, 12 seconds of the
second period, and Alan
Pingree, also in one min-
ute, 12 seconds of the
second period. Pingree of
the Marines took second
place by forfeit.

and he was leading chief
with VC-1 at Barber's
Point. He returned to Pax
River for one year where
he worked with the weapons
system test division.
Last November Chief
Cramer, who is from Chi-
cago, completed 30 years
of service and extended an
additional year to complete
his tour in Iceland. He
is assigned to the weapons
department here.
