Page 4 THE WHITE FALCON December 2, 1970 New NCOA chapter to be formed here The NCO's of the base are form- ing a division of the Non-Commis- sioned Officers Association (NCCA) here to be known as "The Iceland- ic Chapter". The NCOA was originally con- ceived by a small group of NCO representatives from all military branches who realized that the rest of the service is striving for the same goals — political and economic recognition and en- hancement of the image of the professional NCO and petty offi- cer. All NCO's including E-4's in every branch of the military may join. It is for your own benefit. Acting as a group will produce greater results. The NCOA needs your support1 If you are interested contact TSgt Buck at Ext. 6224/5207 dur- ing duty hours, or Sgt. Neast at AFI personnel. Don't Just talk about joining; do something about it. Be- cause of DOD budget problems the furnishings for the new housing is drastically depleted. No re- lief for the situation is antici- pated until February 1971 when some excess furniture is expected to arrive from NavSta Argentia. The new housing units are the last programmed housing in the foreseeable future, and it may be a year or two before the quality and quantity of government furn- iture in the units will be on a par with the other station public quarters, but hopefully the mer- its of the apartments will over- ride the short-lived inconven- iences that may arise. ** CLASSIFIED ADS ** APARTMENTS 1-bdrm. apt. for rent. E-5’s now entitled to residence passes For the past two weeks the Se- curity Department has been de- luged with calls from E-5's eager to get their new residence passes. Is it rumor? No. Last Tuesday instruction 1050.3F CHI finally reached Security and residence cards will be issued to all E-5's. Any unaccompanied E-5 may now receive the residence pass but first they must obtain a memoran- dum from their personnel office starting their qualifications for such a pass. Then take the mem- orandum over to Security and... Voilal Because of the large number otf passes being issued as a resu® of this instruction, any perslH submitting his request to Secur- ity should not expect to get his pass any sooner than the following working day. This pass does not change any of the curfew regulations, but it does make liberty more pleasant by eliminating request chits and the special passes for E-5's. Lt.(J.g.) George W. Leatherbury Is presented the-Dlstin- guished Naval Graduate Award by Cdr. Melvin Meltzer, VP- 56 Co. The award is based on his flight performance.
