Retail Store closed tomorrow
In observance of the "Retail Store
Workers Union Holiday," an Icelandic
holiday, all the main retail store
facilities will be closed tomorrow.
Military shoes
It is obvious our military shoe
selection has not been too good. We
have two large orders outstanding
that should be received in August.
We have adjusted our stock levels to
meet the very large demand for black
uniform shoes expected in the future.

ever, we have written to the company

When the O'Club last drew Vantage
cigarettes in May, they were avail-
able in the Main Store. Our last
shipment has been delayed and we are
temporarily out of Vantage at the
Main Store. Vantage cigarettes
should be in the Main Store in early
August.

Measuring spoons are on order and
are expected to arrive during late
August. We are not stocking Marlboro
Menthols due to lack of sales when
they were on sale last year. We are
currently stocking several brands of
menthol cigarettes. If more people
request Marlboro Menthols we'll try
them again.
Sandwich month
August is National Sandwich Month!
And one way to celebrate this August
occasion is to pop over to the Navy
Exchange Mini-Mart, pick up some of
the Deli, canned, bottled or packaged
delicacies available and create your
own sandwich. We can't promise that
you'll become as famous as the Earl
of Sandwich, but it's a possibility.
Beer is on the way
A message from NAVRESO indicates
Schlitz, Pabst and Old Milwaukee jare
being loaded on the ship Sellfoss
sailing July 23 for Iceland.
Appliance sale
The Exchange will be having an ap-
liance sale on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in
Bldg. 869B, the Navy Exchange Ware-
house. On sale %will be chest freez-
ers and radar ovens. This is not
defective merchandise but savings of
up to 30% can be realized. Stop by
and take a look at the bargains if
you're in the market for a major ap-
liance.
Furniture sale a success
Our furniture show from Reykjavik
was a success. Many orders were
placed by customers and enthusiasm
for shows of this kind in the future
were expressed. We will plan for
other events of this kind in ensuing
months for ybur shopping pleasure.
Mini-Mart shelving arrives
We're busy this week assembling
the new Mini-Mart shelving. We think
the facility will take on a roucn more
attractive appearance and we will be
better able to display our new prod-
uct lines. We're sorry for any in-
convenience caused to the customers
while we install the shelving.
New juke boxes arrive
Four new juke boxes have arrived
for your listening pleasure. They
are quadrophonic units with a much
larger record selection capability.
They will be installed in our major
sites. Our smaller units will go to
some of our minor business locations.
Toys
Toys are really starting to roll
in now and stocks should peak in Oct-
ober. Take a look at our selection
often. New items are coming in daily
as we get ready to open Toyland for
Christmas. Get an early start on
your Christmas shopping and be as-
sured of getting the items you want.
Hummels sell quickly
A large Hummel order arrived last
week and sales were brisk. Other
outstanding purchase orders exist and
the goods should arrive in plenty of
time for Christmas. If you didn't
find your favorite figurine this
time, we're sure to have your favor-
ite in the future.
Stereo gear headed our way
A ship left Yokohama June 16. It
was expected in Norfolk July 22 and
it should be here in August with the
following gear on board: 064/662
Akai, 076/689 Sony, 076/690 Sansui.
Another ship left Yokohama July
12. It should arrive in Norfolk Aug-
ust 5 and is due here in September.

Polaroid film
We have been notified by the Pola-
roid Company that our long-awaited
shipment of film has been sent to an-
other Navy Exchange in error. The
shipment has arrived and is on the
shelves. We apologize for the delay.
To serve you better
The Navy Exchange is conducting a
continuous training puogram, impart-
ing information to Exchange employees
to improve their knowledge, atti-
tudes, skills and habits so that they
can contribute fully to the operation
of a well-managed, attractive and
serviceable Exchange. Types of
training include indoctrination, on-
the-job and off-the-job training.
There are also opportunities for Navy
Exchange personnel to attend func-
tional training courses as well as
seminars and clinics conducted by the
Navy Resale Systems Office. In addi-
tion, specialists from the various
divisions of NAVRESO visit the Kef-
lavik Exchange to assist in training
and upgrading of the facilities.
Several of our managers are sched-
uled to attend workshops and seminars
in the near future. Chief Jenkins,
asst. NEO will attend a workshop for
Personalized Services and Navy Lodge
Managers at Atlanta, Ga. in October.
Our Service Station Manager, Kris
Asgeirsson, will attend a Service
Station Managers' workshop at Houst-
on, Tex. in October. The Personnel
Manager, Doyle Autrey, is scheduled
to attend the Personnel Managers
functional training session at
NAVRESO in September. The Navy Ex-
change is training oriented. We par-
ticipate in these workshops and
training sessions to serve you bet-
ter.

Copenhagen
Are you going to Copenhagen in Sep-
tember? The Tour Office has hotel pack-
ages available for people taking the
flight. Included in the package are ho-
tel accommodations for three nights,
for three breakfasts, transporta-
tion to and from the hotel, all taxes
and services, and a half-day city sight-
seeing tour.
There are two hotels from which to
choose, one is a tourist class hotel,
which is conveniently located and has
single, double or triple rooms plus
children's rates for children staying in
the same room with their parents (ages 2
through 12), and all the rooms are with-
out baths. The other is a standard-
class hotel more centrally located with
single, double or triple rooms plus
children's rates and includes rooms with
bath.
Prices for both start at a reasonable
rate. We cannot take any reservations
for the hotel packages until travelers
are reconfirmed on the flights. Recon-
firming dates ar.° Thursday and Friday.
Upon reconfirming, come by the Tour Of-
fice and find out all the details on our
hotel packages.
Saturday Bus Tours
As usual, the Saturday bus tours have
been successful. Don't miss the opport-
unity while here to take advantage of
this quick and easy way to see Iceland.
Our schedule for the rest of the touring

On August 7, the tour will go to Sel-
foss, Skogarfoss and the Fljotshlid dis-
trict. This is one of the longest trips
and goes across the whole southern low-
land of Iceland. The area is noted for
its scenic beauty and it is also the
setting of the most famous Icelandic
saga, Njals Saga. On the tour one may
visit a multitude of waterfalls, includ-
ing the thundering, one at Skogarfoss,
tour a folk museum, stop for refresh-
ments at one of the Edda Hotels, and
travel through meadows and by glaciers.

Rock festival
A bus will leave from the Viking
Building at 6:30 p.m. for the "Red
Riding Hood Festival '76" rock fest-
ival being held at Thingvellir.
Tickets are available at the bus.
At least four rock groups will be
participating in the festival includ-
ing "Paradise," "CabaretExperiment"
and "The Magicians."

Exams
The dates of the August 1976 Navy-
wide examinations for advancement to
Petty Officer Third Class through
Petty Officer First Class are as fol-
lows :
P03 3 August 1976
P02 5 August 1976
P01 10 August 1976
The examinations will be adminis-
tered on the respective dates at 7:30
a.m. at the Midnight Sun Club. Per-
sonnel should report punctually. Un-
iform of the day and ID cards are re-
quired. It should be noted that the
military leadership exams for pay-
grades E-4 and 5 will not be given
during the month of August. The Au-
gust E-3 exam will be administered
August 31 at 7;30 a.m. at the Mid-
night Sun Club. Requirements and re-
commendations for advancement to E-3
in August must be submitted to the
Personnel Officer not later than 1
p.m. August 16.

Kristi Ann Harris came into the
world at 3:28 p.m. July 22. Her mo-
ther is Jacque A. Harris and her fa-
ther is TSgt. Tommy D. Harris. TSgt.
Harris is assigned to the 932nd AC&W
Squadron.
Stephen Ira Chilson was born at
7:11 a.m. Sunday. His mother is
Emily Ann Chilson and his father is
ETN3 Bruce Ira Chilson. ETN3 Chilson
works at the Grindivik Receiver Site.
Laura Elizabeth Pellegrino was
born at 5:05 p.m. Monday. Her mother
is Nancy Sue Pellegrino and her fa-
ther is CT02 Stephen A. Pellegrino.

Reenlistment
DK1 Walter Edward Leja reenlisted
today for six years. He works for
the Naval Station Disbursing Office

Th.' Midnight Sun Advisory Board
will meet Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the
club. All primary and alternate
board members are requested to at-
tend.
The meeting is open to all mili-
tary personnel E-3 and below who are
urged to attend.
Commendation
The following 932nd Aircraft Con-
trol and Warning Squadron personnel
received the Air Force Commendation
Medal at a July 22 commander's call:

The Vacation Bible School Closing
Program, originally scheduled for
this evening, has been cancel-
led. There was no place large enough
to hold the number of students,
parents and friends expected to at-
tend. Certificates of attendance
will be given to the students as they
leave their class rooms at the end of
the class day today.
