Pape 4 ■Jin'te Falcon January 28. 1977 Vikings set bowling tournament A.T. Mahan High School entered 28 in- tramural bowling teams, with more than 100 entries for individual honors. High men Donn Haviland, Kevin Gilstrap and Glenn Jacobson, will lead the Smokers, favored to take top honors. The team tournament will be a single elimination with a consolation bracket of first-round losers. In addition to team competition, the gala tournament will consist of indivi- dual competition in three divisions: junior high boys, junior high girls and open competition for senior high school HJS. team takes 1st in women’s basketball The Vikingettes gained first place in the women's basketball league, toppling the Trailblazers, 25-22, and Lakers, 33- 21. High score in the game against the Trailblazers was Hafdis Austin with 13 points. In the game with the Lakers, the Vik- ingettes high point player was Robin Hollier with 20 points. Finalists to compete in Wrestle-O-Rama The Vikings are also involved with intramural wrestling, preparing for the base smoker, scheduled March 12 and 13. Weight competition will be held in the following weights; 80, 90, 98, 105, 112, 119, 126, 132, 138, 145, 155, 167, and 185. Outstanding wrestlers preparing for the tournament are: Dennis Farrell in at 155, Jeff O'Brien-145, Mike Woods- 112, Barry Simpson-98, Mark Young-105 and Randy Kitterman-90. boys and girls. Individual competition will be a single elimination tournament with first-round losers, vieing for the con- solation championship. The favorite in the junior high girls division is Vikingette forward Tammy Patterson. Her counterpart in the junior high boys division is John Gerena, who car- ries a hefty average on the lanes. In the' open division, Donn Haviland, Paul Everett and Paul Gilstrap rate as top favorites. Vikings slate smoker Upon completing preliminaries, a Wrestle-O-Rama for finalists will be held at the base gym. To witness the championship matches in all weight classes, the finalist round will take place before the base smoker, accord- ing to the tournament director.
