Wadley slams double to give
Rockets a 9-2 victory over NCS

The Rockets found the season's
toughest competition in last week's
ladies' softball action.
NCS led the Rockets in the contest
3-2, going into the fourth inning.
The Rockets' Wadley started the fourth
inning with a double and the next eight
batters managed hits before NCS was

Rockets given OK to start July 4
The team selected to represent Kefla- Rockets and an all-star team from the
vik in the 15th Naval District Slowpitch league remainder.
Competition will play an all-star team
from both leagues the Fourth of July as
part of the festivities.
The women's game will feature the
The Rockets lead the league with a
two-game bulge.
An intermediate game, featuring Air
Force vs. Navy, will be on the slowpitch
field next to the gym.

Thirty candidates turned out for the
first tryout for the varsity team which
will play at Willow Grove July 11-16.
Teresa Ludt is the coach.

Air Ops has clinched first place in
the first half of the league with a 9-1
record. Admin has 7-2 with one game
left to play.
Grum off the bag. Huff then fired the
ball to second to catch Manning for the
third out.
The triple play seemed to dampen NCS
spirits as the Rockets went on to de-
feat them 9-2.
Saturday, the Rockets defeated the
Late Entries, 5-3, in a close game.
The Rockets received good pitching
from Wadley as she held the Late Entries
to six hits.
With one out, second baseman Fiege
smacked a triple in the top of the
seventh and scored on a hit from Price,
however, the Rockets withstood the
pressure and picked up the next two outs
to end the threat.
Gym to house
track and field
A track and field meet will be held
July 2-3, The field events will start
at 10 a.m. July 2 at the gym.
Running events will begin at 1 p.m.
July 2 and 3. Events featured will be
two mile, one mile, 880, 440, 220, 100
and 50 yard dashes.
Relays will also be held.
Field events are high and long jumps,
broad jumps and discus, shot put and
javelin throw.

A man to help plan and supervise the
events is needed.
Team and individual awards will be
given.

The 60 candidates for the varsity
team were cut to 30 last week. A further
cut left 21, and it will be hard to cut
seven more people.
Defense will be strong, and pitching
should be tough, so if some runs can be
scored, the team stands a good chance
to win.

The objective of the Hobby Shop is to
provide facilities and service for pa-
trons to utilize their leisure hours in
a productive manner. It is located in
buildings T-734 and T-735.
Hobby Shop instructors are available
to instruct or assist, at no cost, pa-
trons in the following crafts: Ceramics,
leathercraft, photographic developing
and enlarging, woodworking, and ,
electronics i.
The Hobby Resale Store supplies hobby
craft items primarily used in the most
popular crafts, supporting the hobby
program.
The Hobby Sales Store and Wood Shop
will be closed for inventory Tuesday
through Thursday.
If you have woodworking projects in
the Wood Shop, contact the Wood Shop
instructor. Unknown woodworking pro-
jects will be discarded.
Gerry Dubois to heed
women’s auxiliary
A women's auxiliary for the Keflavik
Little League Association has been
formed.
The following women were selected to
hold office: Gerry Dubois, president;
Terry Souhrada, secretary; Caroline
Lilly, treasurer and Doris Noble, chair-
man of team mothers.*
Fund-raising projects to support the
Little League Association have been
undertaken such as bake sales and
operating the concession stand at the
Little League field.
Women interested in joining the
auxiliary may contact Terry Souhrada at
5153.
The auxiliary will meet July 12 at
7:30 p.m. at the Officers' Club.
