Even if your not a Country and Western fan you’ll probably enjoy viewing this professional group at its best. Tickets are available at the Recreation Office, Tour Office, Top of the Rock, the "0" Club and, for personnel E-7 and above, at the Wind- breaker Club. Tickets for shows at the Andrews Theater will be $6 for adults and $3 for children. Prices for tickets at the two clubs will be $7.50 for children and adults. Volume 34 Number 9 Keflavik, Iceland March 3, 1978 OFF WITH THE GOODS—Mr. Kenneth Fox leaves the Navy Exchange office with a new multi-band radio which he won in the Exchange "Name the new cafeteria" contest. "Geysir" was the winning entry for the new cafeteria's name. Starting Mar. 16 Night hours at Navy Exchange EVENING SHOPPING HOURS Beginning Mar. 16, the Navy Exchange will again offer evening shopping hours on Thursday nights, remaining opened until 7 p.m. at the Retail Store, Cloth- ing Store, Stereo Shop, Toyland, Persona- lized Services and the Driftwood Cafeter- ia. In order for the Exchange to continue Thursday evening hours, customer support is needed. Jewish Passover Plans are now being made for the Jewish Passover celebration which begins on Friday, Apr. 21. The Chaplains need the following informaton: Are there any accompanied Jewish personnel who will have a seder meal in their home and are willing to provide home hospitality for unaccompanied Jewish personnel? Are there any unaccompanied Jewish personnel who desire to have a seder meal? If a rabbi could come to Keflavik from the states to conduct a Passover service, how many Jewish personnel would attend? All Jewish personnel who are plans underway interested in celebrating Passover are requested to provide this information to the Chaplains’ Office by calling exten- sion 4211 or 4111 as soon as possible. Ceramic painting class The Ceramic Shop announces a paint- ing class in stain for beginners Wed- nesday afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30, March 8th and continuing for four weeks. For further information contact the Ceramic Shop at extention 7584. LACCO and UM college registration starts Monday Registration for the University of Maryland and Los Angeles Community College Overseas term IV will begin on Monday at the Navy Campus Office located on the second floor of building 638. Registration will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily and the classes will run from Mar. 20 until May 11. University of Maryland The University of Maryland has eight courses being offered including Business Law I being taught by Mr. Walter Landen. This course will cover the legal aspects of business relationships, contracts, negotiable instruments, agency corpora- tions, real and personal property and sales. Other courses include Basic Statistics, Psychology of Personality and Adiustment (to be taught by UM resident lecturer, Dr. Richard Resin), Expository Writing, Folk Narrative, Business Finance, Counseling & Personnel Services, and Ethics. Los Angles Community College Los Angles Community College is featuring two new courses this term: In- troduction to College Math which includes linear and quadratic equations, as well as basic trigonometry and logarithims and is designed for non- math majors. It will be taught in a fashion that provides*easy under- standing and may be used for credit in the mathematics area for Associate Degrees. Also featured this term is* English as a Second language. The class will aid reading comprehension and individuals will develope skills which will aid them in their jobs and everyday life communications. LACCO will also be offering courses such as Concepts of Criminal Law, Narcotics and Vice Control, Art Design, Engine Rebuilding, Aircraft Maintenance- Powerplants, Private Pilot Ground School Broadcasting, Electronics Fundamentals, Electronic Circuts I, Emergency Depart- ment Assistant I, Principles of Selling, Color Photography, and the Principles of Real Estate. Wives Scholarship There will be a dependent Wives Scholarship offered by the Officers' Wives Club in the amount of $100 for use with either of the colleges this term. Applications may be picked up at the Navy Campus Office and must be returned before Mar. 10. The selection will be made before Mar. 16 in time to register. For additional information on Term IV stop by the Navy Campus Office or call 7795, or 6226 Vehicle inspection schedule The annual vehicle inspection is still going on at the Recreation Car Wash located behind Public Works. Automobiles are being inspected on specific days according to the JO number of the vehicle. Hours for the inspection are from 1:15 to 4:30 p.m. The JO numbers of vehicles to be inspected next week and the day they are to be inspected are as follows; Monday.......J07086 - J07212 Tuesday......J07213 - J07339 Wednesday....J07340 - J07466 Thursday.....J07467 - J07593 NOTE: All auto insurance policies in Iceland expired on Mar. 1. Insurance coverage is required before an inspec- tion can be performed. If you haven't had, your car inspected yet, you should obtain a statement of coverage from your insurance company. This state- ment should be with you when you re- port for your inspection.
