O’Conner rolls first
In the junior high rolloff, Dan
O’Conner captured first place by
defeating Kent Dewater in the finals.
To reach the finals O’Conner defeated to
top seated Ken Dixon, 105-91, in
addition to downing Paul Thorpe and Jeff
Patterson. The consolation title went
to Mark Young whose only defeat came
from Cash Mason, 114-120.
In the girls’ division, Tammy
Patterson retained her title by
defeating Mary McNeer in the finals, 146-
100. Patterson took a huge lead in the
first frame and commanded the match the
entire way. The versatile Patterson be-
came a consistent performer during the
league and maintained the high average
during tournament play. In the
consolation Jenny Morgan battled to
reach the finals only to lose in the
tenth frame 112-103 to Debbie Rose.
In addition, the defending champion
captured the high series title with an
average of 144.
In the consolation bracket, Steve
Gaines defeated Bryon Dixon 136-103 to
capture the title with only one defeat
suffered at the hands of Mike Farrell.

Senior High Boys Division Bowling Tourn-
ament last weekend. Gilstrap, who
finished the tournament undefeated,
never trailed in the championship match.

The Keflavik Men's Bowling Associat-
ion is now preparing for its Eighth
Annual Handicap Championship Tournament.
This is an American Bowling Congress
sanctioned tournament and will feature
five-man teams, doubles, singles and an
optional all-events.
Tournament dates are April 3 - 7, and
rules and entry forms are available at
theArctic Lanes. Entry forms will be
accepted at the lanes by Fred Trace or
Mark Engwall from 7-9 p.m. daily.

Little League registration set
Registration for this year's Little
League season is set for April 1 and 8
at 2 p.m. Signups for the two Saturdays
will be held at the Youth Center.
All boys and girls between eight and
15 are eligible to play Little League
this year. A birth certificate, an ID
card or a passport will be required to
validate birth dates. Registration
forms will be available at the Youth
Center.
Tryouts this season will begin on
April 12 for eight-year-olds and con-
tinue through April 29 when the 12-year
olds complete theirs. There will be
three days set aside for each age group.
Tryouts during the week will begin at
6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays, these will
start at 1 p.m.
Senior League tryouts will begin on
April 20 and continue through April 29.
Team practice starts shortly after
all players have been drafted to teams.
This will be done on April 30.
Opening day ceremonies have been set
for May 27 with league play beginning
on May 30.
More volunteers are needed to help
support the league this season. Persons
wishing to volunteer need not have
children playing baseball. Persons are
needed as managers, coaches, umpires and
board officials.
Icelandic drag racing
show tomorrow
For its third annual exhibit, the
Icelandic Drag Racing Association is
scheduled to show members’ cars at its
first indoor presentation in the Reykja-
vik sports arena, beginning tomorrow.
Both street and strip cars will be
included in the exhibition as well as
dune racing entries.
In addition, some cars will be shown
from the Antique Automobile Association.
The show will be held from tomorrow
until Monday each afternoon and evening.

League scoring honors
Jerry Jackson, Supply, and Cheri
Autry, Hotdogs, won the top basketball
scoring titles in their respective
divisions. Jackson finished the year
with 440 points in the men’s league and
Autry finished with 196 points in the
women's division.
3-on-3 Basketball results
In a hard fought championship round
Supply defeated VP-16A to capture the
base 3-on-3 tourney last week. The final
score of the tourney was VP-16A - 21,
Supply - 23.
NATO Volleyball tryouts
Volleyball tryouts are currently
being conducted every Tuesday and
Thursday at 6 p.m. in the base gym.

Men's Racquetball League
The base athletic director has an-
nounced that sign up for the 1978 Men’s
Racquetball League is underway. All
commands and organizations should have
their entry forms submitted before
April 5. League play will begin on
April 10.
HH Racquetball Tournament
Preliminary rounds of the Hubert
Humphrey Racquetball Tournament are
slated to start on April 1, at 9 a.m.
All persons signed up should contact the
base gym for details.

Youth Center
Easter vacation events slated
About 100 youth joined in the craft
fair Saturday. The Youth Center expres-
ses a special thanks to the volunteers
who shared a craft and helped at the
tables.
The following special events are
scheduled for Easter school vacation,
Monday through March 31: On Monday,
free kiddie movies will be shown at 2
p.m. Chocolate dipped ice cream cones
will be offered from the snack bar
while watching free movies.
The Youth Center Basketball Banquet
will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the
Glacier Hut. Admittance is by reserva-
tion only.
On Wednesday, the bus will leave the
Youth Center at 1 p.m. for the Reykja-
vik swimming pools and return at 5 p.m.
The trip is for grades two through six.
A fee will be charged while admission
to the pool is 150 kronur. Reserva-
tions for this trip must be made by
Tuesday.
The Disco Spring Semi-Formal is on
Thursday. It will feature a magician
and Dee Jay John Louis from Reykjavik.
The dance is for grades six through
12 and will be from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Jeans and tennis shoes will not be
permitted and only coats will be
checked. The ballroom will be decor-
ated for spring and the Youth Center
staff will serve refreshments. Ad-
mission at the door is $2.50.
