NEX revises procedures. . ._______________________________________________________________
There has been a revision in procedures for overseas personnel
wishing to order American-manufactured furniture for delivery upon their
arrival in Conus. Navy Exchange patrons may now order furniture up to
six months before their anticipated return on PCS orders. More impor-
tantly, you are not required to have PCS orders in hand.
Personnel anticipating orders from an overseas location to Conus
within six months may order furniture through the Exchange. According
to Lt. Evan Rasmussen, Navy Exchange Officer, personnel may order their
furniture at the Customer Service desk in the main retail store.
The furniture will be delivered as part of the household goods moving
allowance as long as such shipment does not cause the total shipping
weight to exceed the member's maximum allowance when added to items being
moved elsewhere.
The furniture must be paid for before the order may be forwarded to
the manufacturer. Full details of ordering procedures are available at
the Customer Service desk.
White House fellows. . .________________________________________________
Applications for the 1980-81 White House Fellows Competition are now
available. Persons selected as White House fellows serve for one year in
positions within the Administration, which offer first-hand insight into
the process of our country's government. Application forms will be avail-
able until November 1st and must be completed and returned before November
17, 1980. To procure an application, write: The President's Commission on
White House Fellowships, 1900 'E' Street, NW, Washington, DC 20415.
Standardized stickers. . .______________________________________________
A standardized vehicle registration sticker has been developed and
will soon replace the individual service/installation stickers now in use.
The new form, Defense Form 2220, is now in use at many installations in
the United States. In order to identify point of issue the new forms have
a supplemental base tab which is positioned below the form.
ALL HANDS
special issue. . .______________________________________________
A special issue of ALL HANDS magazine is now in distribution chan-
nels. The issue contains fifteen chapters, each examining in detail vari-
ous rights Navy members and their families have earned in returned for
their service.
Some 80,000 copies of ALL HANDS are now being distributed to commands
listed on the standard Navy distribution list (SNDL). In addition to this
standard distribution of ALL HANDS, the Naval Military Personnel Command
will be reprinting 340,000 copies of the same magazine as a NAVPERS publi-
cation. Commands may expect to receive these additional copies within 90
days of receipt of the original Rights and Benefits issue of ALL HANDS.
Questions concerning the NAVPERS reprint should be directed to: Com-
mander, Naval Military Personnel Command (NMPC-641E), Department of the
Navy, Washington, D. C. 20370.
