Brady, command- ing officer, presented the following awards. 0T3 Wanda Lewis, 0T2 David Wambold and ET2 Jeffrey Kruegerall received their first Good Conduct Medals. 0T1 Joseph Morra, Command Career Counselor, received the Oc- ean Systems Atlantic Golden Anchor Award on behalf of the command. OTSN William Bach- elor was advanced to 0T3. ET2 Krueger, re- ceived a letter of appreciation from the CO for his work in the SECAS project. 0T3 Ann McFarlane received two letters of ap- preciation from the CO NAVSTA for her work in Youth Basketball and the Radiothon. A letter of Commendation from Commander Ocean System Pacific, was presented to 0T1 Alan Brandt. A letter of commendation was presented to the NAVFAC from Underwater Construction Team 1. The award recognized the efforts of BUC Robert Dubois, EMC Lester Wright, EN1 Joe Easterday, EN2 Terry Gilmore, EN3 Michael Bunton and ENFA Jeffrey Freed. The final presentation was when YN1 Joel Harstad and EN3 Michael Bunton presented, CDR Brady with the first and third place trophies from the Summer International Bowl- ing League. The following Marines were recognized for outstanding performance. Marine of the month, was PFC Randy Gressler. Promoted to Lance Corporal were; Gregory Boggs, Douglas Decker, Kevin Deese, John Downs, John Fass- ler, Roman Garcia, Steven Kokoszka, Timothy McKinney, Joseph Mulaski and Jake Whitehead. In the spirit of interservice harmony SSgt. Roberto Reyes, of the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron reenlisted for six years, with LT Robert Camburn, Naval Sta- tion Aviation Supply Officer, administering the oath of enlistment.1 USO events The USO is having it's fish fry tonight, from 6 p.m. until? Tomorrow the USO will feature tacos and a pool tournament which will be held at 1 p.m. On Sunday, the snack bar will be serving waffles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a pinochle tourney at noon and a coffee house at 7 p.m. On Monday you can go to the Women's Get- together at 10 a.m. and on Tuesday you can make your own sundae and watch the movie at 7 p.m. A counted cross stitch workshop will be held at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday the prot- estant chapel will hold their free chili supper for all unaccompanied personnel at 5:30 p.m. followed by an art workshop at 7. In other USO news, it's trivia time so get your team registered now. There is a video TV game available for the TV room. Sign up today for the pool tourney, and the pinochle tournament. The Micro-Ice computer club meets at the USO on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. The North Atlantic Coinand Stamp Club meets Sundays at 3 p.m. Hobby Center notes The Hobby Sales Store has a new shipment of bowling balls in stock and they are also having a sale on the old stock of balls. The Ceramics Shop is offering classes in wheel and hand thrown pottery and also in beginning pottery. For information call the Hobby Sales Store at Ext. 6191. The Woodshop will beclosedfor inventory on Tuesday, please pick up all woodwork or projects before then. The Hobby Sales Store will be closed for inventory between September 27 and 30. THRIFT SHOP -- Hours of operation are Thur- sday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations will be picked up by calling Linda at 4342 after 3 p.m. CUB SCOUTS, Pack 364's monthly meeting will be held Monday in the Lower School multi- purpose room. FLEET RESERVE ASSOCIATION, will be holding a Hail and Bless tomorrow at 7 p.m. Birth announcements SSgt. David and Leanne Eisler are the parents of a daughter, Kellie Marie, born on August 9. BU3 Leslie and Runa Marable are the par- ents of a daughter, Eva Run, born on August 23. J03 Dan and Terri Jackson are the parents of a son, William Patrick, born on August 27. SH2 Allen and Deborah Fryer are the par- ents of a daughter, Melissa Nicole, born on September 1. RM2 Kurt and RM2 Dianne Klein are the parents of a son, Jamissen Harris, born on September 4. ABH2 James and Shelly Rowley are the parents of a daughter, Rebecca Christine, born on September 9. Navy Week events planned for gym The following events will be sponsored by the base gym in celebration of the Navy Birthday. On October 7 at 4:30 p.m. there will be a Vintage (Old Timers) basketball game be- tween the Officer's and the CPO's. There will also be a racquetball tourna- ment beginning Oct. 7 and ending Oct. 9, it will be a single elimination tournament for both men and women. Sign up for this event no later than the close of business on Oct. 3. Registration fee will be $3. The event will consist of open competition and an over 40 group. Two runs will be held. One will be two miles and the other a 10 kilo run. An intramural swim meet will be held on Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. for anyone interested. You must sign up for this event by the close of business Oct. 3, and the registration fee will again be $3. All participants in events will receive Navy Week T-shirts. Sign up at the base gym beginning Monday. Excess furniture sale A retail sale of excess household type furniture to Defense Force members will be held in Bldg. T-866 — the Disposal Ware- house — on Monday from 9-10 a.m. Sales are on a first-come, first-served basis and furniture is sold on an as-is, where-is ba- sis. There is no refund or exchange. Pur- chasers are required to pay in U.S. dollars only (no checks) and remove items immedi- ately with no assistance from sales people. Rotten sneaker contest The Youth Center held a rotten sneaker contest Sept. 17. The turnout was small but enthusiastic. Howard Brady had the honor of having the all-round Rottenest Sneakers, prizes were also awarded to Abbie Marshall for Cutest Sneakers, Adam Erickson and How- ard Brady tied for the Most Aromatic Sneak- ers and Michelle Briones has the best Danc- ing Sneakers. School open house The A.T. Mahan high school will be hav- inq an open house on Tuesday, from 7 to 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and see the school. Det 14, from 1 room managed by SSgt. Jack A. Williamson and SSgt. Richard A. Ornelas; Pararescue Medical Equipment managed by SSgt. Scott A. Morrison and A1C Norman K. Simpson Jr.; and indiv- idual functional area continuity books which are maintained by Captain Thomas A. Farrier, lLt Anselmo Feliciano, lLt Timothy R. Minish, 2Lt Mark E. Cioffi, and SSgt. David J. Eisler. Colonel Dallas R. Hanna, Commander Air Forces Iceland, in a congratulating letter said, "Responding to a demanding scenario and a day to day real world challenge they defined professionalism." Photo contest The Iceland Defense Force Public Affairs Office has announced a photo competition open to all base residents and civilian employees -- including Icelanders. The theme is military life in Iceland which in- cludes just about every aspect of living in Iceland -- job, recreation, education, etc. The deadline for submission of photos is December 1, 1983.
