battle for base title
The VP-24 "Wrecking Crew" football team
have challenged the base champion, Public
Works, to a "Winner Take All" game. The
"Wrecking Crew" won the football champion-
ship when last deployed to Rota/Lajes. Al-
though the game won't have any effect on
the base championship, a lot of pride will
be won or lost on the field. "Stand by
Public Works. Here we come," is Batmen'
coach, Boat Landry's only comment. All
hands are encouraged to come out and support
the game tommorow at 1 p.m.

The annual contest is sponsored by the
Recreational Services Department, part of
the Naval Military Personnel Command (NMPC).
Entries were judges by a panel of ex-
perts in the fields of journalism, graphic
design and recreation. A point system was
used in the judging to rate each entry on
its content, form and function. Bonus
points were given for entries produced "in-
house" and "on-base" so that smaller or low-
budget activities were competitive with ac-
tivities that use professional, commercial
resources.
