Letters to Santa Claus from NATO Base children
Recently The White Falcon re-
ceived a large envelope which
had been postmarked at The North
Pole. Inside was a note from
Santa Claus. It said he was for-
warding copies of some children's
letters he received this year.
He said he thought people would
be interested in what the child-
ren write to him. Reindeer were
the subject of some letters:
Dear Santa,
Are the other reindeer treat-
ing Rudolph nice now? That's
why I am writing this letter.
Steven Guzman
Some express real need:
Dear Santa Claus,
I need a toy Michael Jackson.
Santa I need to get a ride.
Terrence Whitehead
Some lists are long:
Dear Santa,
Last year I was happy with
the things you brought. This
year I should like four baby kit-
tens, a Care Bear, Gizmo, and
Rainbow Brite, and a pony, and
a shirt, and pants for my dad
and shoes for mom, a Michael
Jackson for my sister and a
puppy, an Ewok for my brother
and a teddy bear, a play pony
and a doll.
Tiffany Hayes
Some express concern for me:
Dear Santa Claus,
What kind of cookies do you
like? Say Merry Christmas to
your reindeer and elves and to
you.
Clint Sweetser
And some show concern for
others:
Dear Santa Claus,
I just can't wait for Christ-
mas to come because I can wish
everybody a Merry Christmas,
and to you too Santa Claus.
Laura Sirmans
What do the children want
for Christmas? Some want
animals:
Dear Santa Claus,
I am 7 years old and in
grade 2. I want a puppy, a
real one and a white Christ-
mas and a new friend.
Michael Agagas
I hope you find these letters
as heartwarming as I do. Please
assure the children I have them.
Fire prevention planning: some tips on avoiding holiday danger
With the holiday season upon
us, it's time for fire prevention
planning. Don't let FIRE mar
these activities by careless acts.
During the holidays many haz-
ards are introduced into homes,
clubs, and other public places.
These are brought about by the
use of f 1 ammabl e, decorati ve mate-
rials and overloading of electri-
cal circuits. While these haz-
ards are well recognized by fire
prevention personnel, they are
not always apparent to, or taken
seriously by, people decorating
for the holidays. Make fire
safety first on your list this
Christmas, so you may enjoy -a
safe Christmas. Attention should
be given to the following:
Try to use only electric
lights. Be sure to check light-
ing sets for frayed cables, loose
connections and broken sockets.
Don't plug too many extensions
into one circuit.
The gifts and their wrappings
are not to be overlooked. Dispose
of gift wrappings promptly,
either fold them neatly together
or place them in a metal trash
container as soon as possible.
And last, but not least, have
your fire escape plan up-to-date.
Discuss with all members of the
family what to do in case they
wake up in the middle of the night
learning that there is a fire in
the house. Rehearse your plan.
The Fire Department Inspectors
invite all NATO Base residents to
call upon them to inspect the
set-up of Christmas decorations.
Arrangements can be made by call-
ing 7587 or 5335. Remember the
number to report a fire is 17.
