MMl Silloway nominated for
Sailor of the Year

MMl Robert Silloway, Leading Petty Officer, at
the Naval Station Liquid Oxygen Plant (LOX), has
been nominated for the Atlantic Fleet Shore Sail-
or of the Year during a ceremony conducted by
Commander, Iceland Defense Force, Commodore Edwin
K. Anderson.
The ceremony took place in the Commodore's
office at Commander, Fleet Air Keflavik. Also, on
hand for the ocasion was the second place nominee
CT01 Sandra Wadsworth of the Intel 1igence Division
of COMFAIRKEF.
Petty Officer Silloway was selected for. his
outstanding performance as the LOX Plant Super-
visor from December 1983 until February 1984.
Each year since 1972 a candidate serving
ashore has been selected for nomination to the
Chief of Naval Operation's Shore Sailor of the
Year. Nominees are selected on the basis of per-
formance in several catagories, including military
evaluation, military bearing and appearance, com-
munity and civic involvement and leadership qual-
ities, as well as several others.
Selectees for the Sailor of the Year compet-
ition travel to the Commander-In-Chief, Atlantic
Fleet Headquarters, Norfolk, Va., for further
screening, with the names of the winners to be
announced later during the year.
