SPORTS Naval Communications declared bowling champs Now it's official ... the scorecards are in. The National Bowling League team of the Naval Communications Station (NRK), has been declared the winner of the 1984-1985 intramural bowling season and the winners of the four-day base "Roll- Off," held recently. The NRK team, consisting of team captain ‘Mark De Felippo, Terry Matthews, Bob Schlegal, Dave Pipes and Felix Ladner were named the base cham- pions during a banquet at the Top of the Rock en- listed club. On hand for the banquet were invit- ed guests and family members as well as bowlers representing the various intramural leagues. After presenting a number of individual awards and trophies, League Coordinator Mark Hetterich made the announcement and presented the winning NRK team with huge individual championship tro- phies as well as individual "Roll-Off" champion- ship trophies. The base roll-off consisted of four days of competition between eight teams representingqeach of the intramural leagues. Twelve games were played during the four day period with NRK emerg- ing as the base champions. NRK finished the season with a record of 142 wins and 66 losses. Several other bowlers were also singled out for individual accomplishments during the regular intramural season. Paul Miller .finished the season with a 620-high scratch series and Dorothy Schmidt finished with a 634-high scratch series for the women. Mike LaCroix received an award for his 268-male high game and once again it was Dorothy Schmidt with a 223-female high game. Rich Edwards was singled out as the most improved male with a plus-nine above average and, as you might have guessed, Dorothy Schmidt was the most im- proved female, with a plus-eight above average. Due to the absence of the intramural bowling league coordinator, John Larow, we are unable to furnish the highlights of the other leagues. How- ever, we will attempt to obtain this information and pass it along to our readers in upcoming editions of the White Falcon. Members of the winning team are Mark De Felippo, Terry Matthews, Bob Schlegal, Dave Pipes and Felix Ladner. Dorothy Schmidt walked away with three of the awards.
