ARMED FORCES DAY SCHEDULE Armed Forces Day 1985 will be celebrated here on the NATO Base tomorrow. The following is a guide to what is going on but readers are caution- ed that last minute changes are possible. Note also that some activities are limited to U.S. personnel only. The center of activities will be building num- ber 868, the Supply Warehouse. Here's what will be happening there from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.: • A display by the Navy's Counseling and As- sistance Center. • A CPR demonstration by the Red Cross. • A 12-man life raft display by AIMD. • A picture display of base construction pro- jects by ROICC. • The Boy Scout Troop's snow cone machine. • A bake sale by the Girl Scouts. • Helium balloons and weather gathering in- formation by the weather office. • Food concessions by the Navy Exchange. • A uniform and equipment display by the Mar- ine Detachment. • Heavy equipment (i.e. bulldozer, grader, crane, backhoe, etc.) display by Public Works. • A Seabee construction display. • Free checkup for dolls and stuffed animals provided by the Medical Department. • Complete on-site radio and television cov- erage by the Navy Broadcasting Service. • Reenlistment information for both Air Force and Navy people. • A film on the operations of P-3 aircraft sponsored by COMFAIRKEF. • An Ombudsman Booth. • A softball throw and musical chairs provid- ed by the Naval Facility. • A booth featuring shaving balloons and dart throwing by the KCPOA Women's Auxiliary. • A fish tank operated by the KCPOA. • Air Operations will sponsor a sponge toss and sell mud dolls. • Icelandic horse-back riding. • A Fire Department booth and fire truck rides. MWR activities The Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department is heavily involved in this year's activities. Here is what will be happening at their facilities tomorrow: •*At the gymnasium: An open house from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; a racquetball clinic from 2 p.m. un- til 4 p.m.; volleyball games between the NATO Base teams and the Icelandic champions. •*The base theater (currently housed in the Old Chapel, building 349) will show a free Armed Forces Dav moyie from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. (Note: free to military personnel in uniform.) • The Arctic Bowl will have an Open House from 1 p.m. until 4'p.m. One free game per person. • *From 1 until 5 p.m. and again from 6 until 10 p.m. there will be a Grand Opening of the new Hobby Sales Store with a 10 percent discount on all merchandise. *Also at the Hobby Shop there will be a demo- nstration of photography, ceramics, leather crafts and lapidary from 1 - 7 p.m. • The Library will hold open house from 10 a.ni. until 4 p.m.; the Child Care Center and Auto Hobby Shop from 1-4 p.m.; and Gear Issue (bldg. 180) from 12:30 until 3 p.m. • The Youth Center (bldg. 179) will sponsor a Fun Run for children at 10 a.m. NEX and USO events The Navy Exchange will contribute to the festi- vities by offering the following: • A $2.00 discount to military members in uni- form during normal hours. t *Special discounts on selected items in the Uniform Shop, Main Store and Mini-mart. The USO has made arrangements for two special events in honor of Armed Forces Day: # An Open House from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. feat- uring a free pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. for military members in uniform. 0*A drawing for five free five-minute telephone calls. Other happenings Other activities planned for the day include: 0 *Dinner specials during normal hours at all NATO Base clubs. 0 A carwash and engine steam cleaning from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in building 633. 0 NATO Base aircraft on static display on the ramp in the vicinity of building 885. There will be an F-4, KC-135, E-3A, HH-3 and P-3. 0*The Navy Relief will sponsor a car wash in building 507 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. 0 Det. 14 will provide a helicopter search and rescue demonstration in the vicinity of building 885 at 11 a.m. 0 The 932 ACWS will provide an historical de- velopment picture display from 10 a.m. until 4p.m. 0*The Fleet Reserve Association, in building 2306, free movies for kids and free coffee for their parents from noon until 4 p.m. 0 An Open House at the Fire Station from 10 a. m. until 4 p.m. during which there will be an e- quipment display and demonstration of the new fire truck at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. * U.S. personnel only.
