A Father's Day gift idea
■ The Lone Soilor"
(NAVY MEMORIAL FOUNDATION)
— Great Father's Day Gift idea:
honor your father (or husband)
who served in the Navy by
enrolling him in the Navy
Memorial Log. The gift is a
perfect fit and will never shrink
in significance for dads who've
been in the Navy.
The Navy Memorial Log is an
integral part of the U.S. Navy
Memorial now being built in
Washington. A minimum $25
tax-deductible donation is all
that's required.
The U.S. Navy Memorial,
authorized by Congress in 1980
and funded solely through private
donations, is now under
construction on Pennsylvania
Avenue, halfway between The
White House and The Capitol.
Honoring the Navy and all its
members, past, present and
future, the Memorial will include
a large amphitheater for band
concerts, fountains and
waterfalls, the statue of The Lone
Sailor and, eventually, a
sculpture honoring the Navy
family.
The Navy Memorial Log is a
computerized repository of
names which have been entered by
individuals themselves, in
memory of shipmates or
relatives, or as commerative
gifts. The Log will publicly
display each individual's name,
highest rank or rate held, branch
and dates of service and date and
place of birth. The Log already
holds 45,000 entries. U.S.
Marines and Coast Guard
personnel who have served with
the Navy are eligible for the
Memorial Log.
Specially prepared greeting
card acknowledgements and log
registration forms will be sent in
time for Father's Day for requests
with contributions received by
Friday, May, 30.
Donations payable to ‘U.S. Navy

The stars came out for Lip Synch #6
The stars were out in the Andrews Family Theater
April 5th, everyone from the incredibly hot Whitney
Houston to the "where are they now" Floaters
stopped by to compete in the USO's sixth lip synch
contest.
Actually the contestants were members of the
local community imitating their favorite musician.
Over 12 acts did their best renditions of popular
tunes before a five judge panel. All were worthy of
praise, (bravery - for getting up in front of the
audience should have been worth some points) but
only two winners could be chosen in either category.
The contestants were judged in four areas; I)
interpretation, 2) stage presence, 3)
synchronicity, and 4) overall performance. Up to
10 points were awarded for each area, for a total of
up to 40 points.
The judges' picks were:
GROUP
1st place - Floaters "Float On"
"Snowdog" K. Horton Sr.
B.J. Mullins
Brian Canty
Ronald Richard
2nd place -9.9 ‘AH pf Me for all of you"
Jackie Wilson
Patricia McKenna
Karen Wells
SINGLE
1st place - John Cafferty "On the Dark Side"
John Collins
2nd place- Madonna "Angel"
Terri Small
The USO salutes all the brave souls who partici-
pated in Lip Synch #6, all the acts were winners,
they provided a great evening out for the NATO Base
community.
