Do you think that the Soviet invasion of Iceland, as depicted in Tom Clancey's best seller'Red Storm Rising' is a
probable scenario?
Deputy Public Affairs
Officer. Fridthor Kr.
Evdai—Given all the
time the West had to
prepare I don’t think that
the scenairo is realistic.
The story does serve as
an excellent reminder of
what the Iceland Defense
Force is all about; that
it’s extremely Important
during the time of war.
U. Kirsten Skeehan —
I feel it could be a
probable scenairo. The
best we could hope for is
that the world will never
get to the point that this
would happen.
Cant. John Wright—
As far as the book is
concerned I think the
scenario is very realistic
and I think it highlights
both the NATO and Soviet
view concerning the
tactical importance of
Iceland.
J01 Jon Storv—No, not
in the way it was
presented in the book.
The crux of the attack
was based on our fighters
not being able to react in
time. It was just fiction.
