A .look at the Dental Clinic

The NATO Base Dental Clinic is a branch
of Navy Dental Center, Norfolk, Virginia. It
is located in building 862 on the northeastern
part of the base, near the water tower. As an
additional distinguishing landmark, the white
building with the blue roof has a whale’s
jawbone mounted on a stand in the clinic’s
small garden.

The Feast of the Assumption (August 15)
celebrates the day when, after her life on
earth, Mary was taken up into heaven, body
and soul.
For Mary, this was the culmination of the
fitting reward for a life well lived. For us,
it is both a promise and a pledge that we,
too, are precious in the eyes of God (body
and soul) and that the privilege which
Mary now enjoys in heaven will, some
day, be ours as well — provided, of
course, we walk HER way!
The definition of the dogma is careful
to avoid any reference to her death, be-
cause there are eminent theologians with
cogent arguments chi both sides of the
issue. Those who would believe that
Mary died before being taken up into
heaven affirm that she was only follow-
ing the example of her Son, Jesus, and
being the pattern for all of us to imitate.
Those who would believe that Mary did
not die before being taken up into heaven

quickly, and appointments are not made more
than two weeks in advance to minimize fail-
ures. Appointments are made by calling ext.
4591/7425 between 9 - 11:30 a.m. and 12-4
p.m. Walk-in patients are limited to patients
in pain, or those requiring short-fuse appoint-
ments. They are encouraged to come to the
clinic at 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. daily. After hours or
on week-ends, the duty dental technician and
doctor can be contacted through the acute
care clinic at 3300.
