Senior Military Member of the Quarter
What makes a successful military mem-
? The attitude exhibited by people like
TSgt. Daniel Comer, 35th Mission Support
Squadron’s Training Manager, explains it.
“The status quo is never good enough,”
said Comer. “I always look for ways to im-
prove things. I then figure out how to get
where the organization wants to be.”
According to his wife, Ruth, Comer is an
individual who never gives up. “He’ll work
on improving things until it’s done,” said
Mrs. Comer. “If something needs to be done,
people know they can to go him to have it
done right. Everybody who knows and works
with him says the same thing.”
Although Comer is aggresive when it comes
to getting the job done, he also believes in
treating people right. In commenting on one

For some people, standing before a Mili-
tary Member of the Quarter Board is like fac-
ing the judge at an inquisition. For Sgt. Clin-
ton PoDham. Corporal of the Guard for the
Marine Corps Security Force, Kefiavtk, it
was nothing to sweat about.
“Going before the board was no big deal,”
admitted Popham. “Once you’ve been in
combat, like I was in Saudi Arabia,
other things that aren’t life or death
situations can’t compare. You tell
yourself you can handle it, because
Popham inspects a weapon as part of his duties.
you’ve had combat experience before.”
Besides his ‘nerves of steel’ that enabled
him to succeed before the board, Popham
was quick to give credit where credit was
due. “First of all, it was an honor for me just
to be chosen to represent the Marines, be-
cause there are a lot of good Marines here, but
really, I couldn’t have done as well without
the support of others in my section,” said
Popham.
Like most Marines, Popham has tremen-
dous respect for the Marine Coip and hopes
to someday lead others down the path he’s
chosen. He says he wants to reenlist and be-
come a drill instructor and “Turn civilians
into Marines. I want to pass on what I’ve
learned to younger Marines, so they can take
pride in who they are and experience the
espirit de corps of the Marines.”

Michael Potter, Analysis Technician for the
35th Supply Squadron, enjoys going out of
his way to help others.
“Mike is like a breath of fresh air,” said
TSgt. Greg Lundy, a co-worker at 35th Sup-
ply. “He’s always congenial and friendly to
work with. He doesn’t put on any barriers and
always does above and beyond what’s re-
quired.”
Dealing with other people in an office
ivironment, Potter realizes the importance
f promoting good working relationships with
his peers.
