This month’s award-winning
photo went to David Difuntorum, a
photographer for Patrol Squadron
FOURTY-NINE.
While VP-49 personnel were
hosing down one of their P-3C Orion
aircraft in Hangar 831, David pulled
out his camera to capture the mo-
ment.
“A high sutter speed was used to
enhance the highlights created by
the water droplets and to pick up a
strong contrasting silhouette. Cap-
turing detail in the people by slow-
ing the shutter speed down or open-
ing the aperature more would have
spoiled the shot with unnessesary
distractions,” said Difuntorum.
He used a Nikon 8008 with a 180
f2.8 lens and yellow filter. His apera-
ture setting was f4 at a shutter speed
of 1/4000.
(The White Falcon is currently accepting
black and white photos for September’s
Photo of the Month contest. Submissions
must be of images shot while in Iceland.
Larger prints are recommended, but should
not exceed 7x9 inches.)
