The White Falcon - 31.12.1993, Side 4
Super Bowl blues: Iceland 1993
Popcorn and punch, soda and beer
Where are the sandwiches, my beautiful Dear?
It's just not the same in Iceland they say
But a Super Bowl's a Super Bowl
No matter the place, no matter the cold miserable, rainy day!
Listen, my Dear, the winds a howling
The weather zoon't change, lets stop this scowling
We're snug in our shack, apartment they say
The Super Bowl's a starting...
Soon, I pray.
Crack! Boom! Is that thunder I hear?
Thunderstorms in January? It’s Iceland, my Dear!
I paced the hallway, the kitchen, and back
And prayed to the One, oh how I prayed
That the Satellite dish was on track.
My friends came a tapping, tapping at my door
Dripping and wet, coats piled high on the floor
The sacred hour was upon us, the warriors now face
Buffalo and Dallas to treat us
With ultimate grace.
All of the sudden there came such a clatter
The power went out, Oh, Lord, now what's the matter?
In darkness we cussed, the TV now dead
With candlelight glowing, I saw men, yes, grown men
Ripping hair from their head!
We all held hands and fell to our knees
Chanting prayers to our Cod, hear our NEEDS!
Super Bowl Sunday comes but once a year
We'll all go to church, to Sunday School with cheer
If only, if only You'll turn on the power for this magical day of the year?
In a flash of a second the lights now on
As cheers of elation, echoes base wide and strong
An electrical blowout, so they say...
I think it was trolk...
Having their way!
All is forgiven, the Super Bowl’s on
We'll all watch Buffalo get stomped, again like a pawn
Now always remember, that fateful day
When the lights went out, on Super Bowl Sunday!

Iceland Wind
Iceland
Southwest wind
Rises to roar.
Shakes my zoindow
Rattles the door.
Knocks me down
sends me flying,
Whips up cold
Starts me crying.
Begins to gust
Pushes to race,
Changes direction
Smacks my face.
Southwest wind
Turn it off.
Oh, for summer breezes
Warm and soft.
