Late clutch hit leads CFK/IDFto win Story and photo by JQ2 Kevin A. Mills Mike Meyers’ pinch-hit leadoff triple in the top of the seventh inning lead to the game-winning run as CFK/IDF#1 edged 35th Supply 5-4 in the Coed Softball Championship Sunday at the gym field. “I was pretty excited when I hit it; we needed that,” said Meyers of his clutch hit. CFK/IDF lead off the first inning with two hits resulting in two runs only to have their opponents get one back on two hits in the bottom of the first. Supply had the opportunity to catch-up in the third inning, but with one out, CFK/IDF turned a double play to escape injury. Two good catches in left field by Rich Price of Supply turned CFK/IDF away in the fourth and allowed 35th to tie the game at two. 35th errors in the sixth inning lead to two runs for CFK/IDF. Supply charge^ right back in the bottom half of the innina to tie up the score at four with an in-the- park two-run homer by Darrel Moore. CFK/IDF’s run in the top of the sev- enth was all that was needed. 35th went down one-two-three to close the book. “I was impressed with everyone’s play,” said Meyers. “We beat them 5-2 earlier and knew we would see them here.” Steve Hash, 35th Supply coach, talked about his team’s performance. “We have the best defense in the league, but our bats have been suspect. CFK/IDF was our nemesis all season. We didn’t beat them once.” Hash concluded, “We’ll get them next year.” Tidal predictions for August 27 - September 2 Increments In ft. 9:48 a.m. 10:06p.m. 10:36a.m. 10:54a.m. 11:36p.m. 12:06a.m. 12:54p.m. 1:36a.m. 2:42 pm 3:06 a.m. 3:30p.m. 4:00a.m. 4:18p.m. 12 10 8 6 4 2 3:36 a.m 3:54 p.m. 4:18 a.m. 4:42 p.m 5:06 a.m. 6:48 p.m 6:18 a.m. 7:18 p.m 7:48 a.m. 10:48 p.m 8:06 am 8:54 p.m 10:06 am 10:42 p.m Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday 8 The White Falcon
