Most Awesome
I WAS STATIONED IN ICELAND
FROM '67-'69. I ENJOYED EATING
AT A REYKJAVIK RESTAURANT
BY THE NAME OF HRESSINGAR
SKAULIN. I THINK THAT IT WAS
ON HAFNARSTRAITI.. IS IT STILL
THERE?
ALSO, IS THERE NO E-MAIL WAY
TO ASK GUDMUNDUR ?
TAK FYRIR HJALPENA
-Werner Miller
Hi Werner,
since you were stationed in Iceland, the
restaurant has closed and reopened,
the location serving as the site of a
McDonalds franchise in the interim.
Hressingarskálinn's new iteration is
likely quite different from the one you
frequented - you can learn more about it
at its Facebook page, here: www.facebook.

Dear Grapevine,
We can't be the only ones eagerly awaiting
the latest edition of the Best of Reykjavík
guide.
In 2011 we arrived in Iceland as newly-
weds, excited to explore a new city as hus-
band and wife. You pointed us to the best
restaurants, the coolest bars and helped us
make the most of our honeymoon. We have
some amazing memories from that trip
and some beautiful photos.
This October we're coming back and
I can't wait to see what suggestions you
have for us this year. Will Reykjavík Roast-
ers (Formerly Kaffismiðjan) retain its top
spot for the seventh year running? Where
will Grill Market (our favourite date night
meal) come in the rankings?
Some things that made our last visit
great were down to pure luck - blue skies,
Northern Lights, lovely people. The rest of
it we can put down to you.
Thank you, and long may "Best of
Reykjavík" reign,
Emma & Richard,
Leeds, UK
(P.S. Attached is a selfie we took at Perlan,
what amazing views!)
Thanks Emma & Richard for your kind
words!
We love making our annual Best of Reykja-
vík issue. It’s the one time of year we take a
break from being critical and fill an entire is-
sue with the things we love about our city. And
good news, it’s almost time to make a new
one—you can expect to see it in July. Send
us your recommendations: bestofreykjavik@

1. How someone else stupidity or greed justi-
fies Marco The Idiot actions?
2. Art is the act of creation something new.
Pouring paint into geysir is vandalism - same
as Herostratus burning the temple. Anyone
can pour paint into hole. But very few can
place tiny dabs on plane cloth to get people
feel sad, happy, angry etc.
3. Public ownership means exactly that - it
belongs to ALL not to Marco. He can watch
it but he can't change nor touch it without
PUBLIC to agree and allow Marco The Self-
ish to do what he - and only he - want to dam-
age to please his own F-feelings.
4. Freedom is first and foremost the OBLI-
GATION to respect others! But such people
like Marco The onceit are not capable to get
this simple concept.
5. I would like to re-create The Birth of Ve-
nus on Marco himself and call it The Birth
of Artist. If he agrees to take the challenge to
use his own method on himself - you can pass
my words to him. No body nor soul harm in-
tended, I promise. And I'm sure that youtube
video of this creation will be a bigger hit.

PS. I couldn't add a comment on the site be-
cause of Grapevine's restriction on freedom of
expression that limits commenting to White
People of Facebook only. But I don't like this
totalitarian "social" network, sorry.
Hi Alexander,
Wow. That’s quite the reaction. For those of
you who are wondering what this is all about,
you can read the story and opinion piece he’s
talking about on page 14. In case you also
have strong opinions that you want to share
with us, but are against the social media
platform for White People, drop us a line! Let-
ters@grapevine.is.
