She was born in the summer but
she loves the winter. This makes
perfect sense. Alvia Islandia has
a way of exhibiting darkness and
lightness not as opposites, but as
complements. She’s a total tomboy
and rosy-pink pretty girl in one
picture perfect package. In June
of this year she released the six-
track album ‘Bubblegum Bitch’, a
little bit trap, a little electronic, a
lot rap, and a lot don’t-bother-clas-
sifying, it’s Alvia Islandia—just go
listen to it.
Alvia’s spent the past year
based in Copenhagen, jumping
around Europe performing, film-
ing videos, and creating new mu-
sic. From November on, though,
she’ll be back in RVK proper. As
if playing Saturday night at Air-
waves isn’t a good enough home-
coming celebration, we wanted to
send her some love too by includ-
ing her top five albums in this is-
sue. Welcome home, lady Islandia.

just because of how unique and

me. This sound connects me to my
roots. When I started making mu-
sic I recorded over dreamy mys-
tical beats from Marlon Pollock.
