25 On the unfertilized land the carcass weight of the calves in Sölvaholt was poor. A great variation was between replicates. On the fertilized land the carcass weight was also poor, but both on the fertilized and unfertilized paddocks there was a considerable difference due to grazing pressures. Other data concerning the experiment at Sölvaholt will not be discussed here but referred to tables 55-58. ólafur Guömundsson Livestock health As in previous years the health of the sheep in Alftaver was good. Two ewes were found on their back of which one died. In addition one ewe was found dead at the beginning of the experiment. Three lambs got sick during the experiment and one died, and in addition one was found dead of unknown causes. Relatively few lambs got diarrhea. In the experiment at Auókuluheiöi the health of the livestock was similar as in previous years. However, several ewes got raastitis. Several lambs got diarrhea. The health of the sheep at Eyvindardalur was good. At Hestur the health of the sheep was good. Fewer lambs got diarrhea than in previous years. The health of the horses (ponies) in the experiment in Kalfholt was very good. Two ewes were found dead on their back, but otherwise the health of the ewes was good. Several lambs got diarrhea and three died during the experiraent. As previously mentioned there was very little vegetation growth in the pastures in Kelduhverfi when the sheep were put in the experiment. In spite of this the health of the ewes was relatively good. One ewe and four lambs died during the experiraental period and one lamb was found sick and removed from the experiment. Three lambs got lost in the experiment. In the Sölvaholt experiment the calves were healthy during the experimental period. In general the experimental livestock was in poorer condition when put in the experiments than in previous years due to cool weather and poor vegetation growth. In addition this delayed in some cases the onset of the experiment causing the pastures where the livestock were stored before
