“Sålus eterna”, which according to this was the first sequence in this
collection. A numbering of the sequences can be seen on fac. 2 at the
end of the top line: “ii” in black, on fac. 3 in the second line from the
top: “iii” in red (and above that: “tres”), and on fac. 10 in the second
line from the bottom: “iiii” in red. Although the greater part of this
MS probably is missing altogether, the remaining part is of a wider
range of contents than any other Norwegian MS mentioned in the fol-
lowing, as it contains parts of 29 sequences, among them all the four
Advent sequences plus the Christmas sequence “Nato canunt omnia”
and also “Benedicta sit beata trinitas” (cf. p. XXI).
B = Ra 336 and Ra 284
(Facs. 40-47 and 48-51)
Provenance: (Ra 336) Hadeland 1621, Valdres 1628, (Ra 284) Hade-
land 1625. Ra 336 No. 1 (facs. 40—43) is the upper part af two con-
joint leaves, No. 2 (facs. 44-47) is cut out from the middle of two
other leaves which also were conjoint. Like A this book must have
begun with the four Advent sequences (although the lst and 2nd are
missing), followed by “Nato canunt omnia”. The fragments in Ra 336
have initials in blue and red, which is not the case with Ra 284, and the
handwriting is also dif ferent, so there is little reason to believe that 336
and 284 are remnants of the same book. It should however be noted
that there is a common provenance, the size is the same, and 284 has
been cut as 336, the preserved part being the top of two conjoint
leaves. Width of text-area c. 9,5 (Ra. 336), c. 9 cm (Ra. 284).
C = Ra 1101 and Ra 980
(Facs. 52-55 and 56-57)
Provenance: (Ra 1101) Nordlands len 1622, (Ra 980) Trondheims len
1622—1623. Width of text-area c. 13—13,5 cm. Two of the six fragments
in 1101 do not contain sequences; 980 is no doubt a seventh fragment
from the same book.
D = Ra 627
(Facs. 58-67)
Provenance: Hedmark and Østerdal 1613, Fredriksstad 1618, Valdres
1629, Akershus Slott 1604, 1618, Øvre Romerike 1617, Nedre Ro-
