9. A vellum leaf containing words and music of two sequences has
only recendy been removed from the binding of AM Ida, fol. The
beginning of the first sequence is lost, and it has not been identified;
the remaining part is rendered here:
... rarum genusque omne tormenti
Sua de mente prudenter abegit
Ne hijs diris uicta periret
O decus uirginale quod sic meruit triumphare
O preclaram Christi sponsam que hostilem triumphat insaniam
Sponsi odorem oleuit amenum
Quo illecta secuta est eum
Atque mortis iure calcato palmam trophei leta pretendit
Ad alta sponsi pergens fastigia
Oleum leticie preferendo lampade
Gregi comitatur candidato agnum dei sequendo
Stola perhenni candidata compta lapidis preciosi corona
Cantica laudis decantat
Christi uisione letatur
lam mansura sancta martir in celesti gracia
Nostri cordis inquinata tua prece expia
Per tui meriti gaudia nobis defer suffragia
Vt regni celestis patriam optineamus decoram
Sit domino Iesu honor laus per euum.
The second, with the heading “Translacio Magni m(artiris)”, is the
sequence on St. Magnus, “Comitis generosi”, which is complete in this
MS. Is is also found in Acc. 7aa, f. 29v, with the heading “in festo
Magni ducis m(artiris)”, but only the beginning is preserved, see pp.
141 ff. As mentioned there, the text of this sequence was transcribed by
Årni Magnusson from a “liber officiorum sacrorum in grandi folio”
which he had obtained from SkarS on SkarSsstrond. It appears from
Årni Magnusson’s transcript that this part of his exemplar contained:
(1) “Andreæ Apostoli”, (2) “Conceptio Sanctæ Mariæ virginis”,
(3) “Luciæ virginis M(artiris)”, and (4) “In festo Magni Ducis
M(artiris)”. This summary agrees with Acc. 7aa, ff. 28r-29v, but not
with the leaf from AM Ida, fol., and it may then be concluded that
among the leaves in Acc. 7aa there are remnants of the liber offi-
ciorum from Skar8. This Identification was made already by Kr. Kålund
who wrote “Codex Scardensis” on the cover of Acc. 7aa. The leaf from
AM Ida, fol., is in the same hånd as Acc. 7aa (Jon Porlåksson’s);
both leaves have black staves and would seem to belong to the same
