In AH 59 MSS. are enumerated. “Das Vorbild dieser weit ver-
breiteten Marien-Sequenz ... ist handgreiflich das “Victimae paschali”
... Ihr Ursprung ist wohl in Frankreich (nach den Quellen zu schlies-
sen) und zwar im 12. Jahrhundert.”

Of this sequence, the text of which is printed in Missale Nidrosiense
(In Commemoratione beate Marie virginis), no trace has been found
in our MSS.
According to AH the sequence was composed by Herimannus
Contractus (d. 1054). The text is printed in AH 50, No. 241.
