SACERDOTEM CHRISTI MARTINUM

beginning of the sequence (heading: de sancto martino episcopo
officium) as far as v. 3a (5) diui[sio], then the recto and verso of a

de c [elo]. — h. Fac. 243-fac. 244,1. 2; the recto and verso of a leaf of
which only 5 lines on each page are preserved, the recto extending
from the beginning of the sequence as far as 3b (6) omnes, the verso
from 9a (17) ut to the end; under the last line of text there is an
almost complete line of music on each page.
Text printed in AH 53, No. 181.
Textual differences from AH in A: 2b (4) alitrix] filii (?), 3b (6)
Sed] Et, 5a (9) Aegypti] egyptus, 5b (10) impares se] in par esse; —
in h: 3a (5) certet] certat.
Since the fragments A and h do not give the whole sequence,
what is lacking has been supplied in parentheses from Moberg (No.
28) in the following transcription..
The title of the melody, “Beatus vir qui timet”, has been borrowed
from the Versus Alleluiaticus de Communi confess. non pontif.
As is the case with “Eia turma” (Adorabo minor), this melody
appears in both a longer and a shorter form, although our collection
gives no example of the latter. It is used for the Stephanus-sequence
“Gloriosa dies adest”, about -which AH 53, No. 219, says: “Es
verdient sehr Beachtung, dass vorliegende Sequenz um ein gutes
Stiick kiirzer ist, als die genannten anderen Sequenzen des gleichen
Schemas, welche scheinbar deutschen oder flandrischen Ursprunges
sind.”
In AH 87 MSS. are enumerated.
