10 groups. At Norðtunga E3 is highest, but E2 at Ásólfsstaðir, Ei is also higher in percentage at Ásólfsstaðir than at Norðtunga. My time being very short, as mentioned before, I couldn’t examine the vegetation bordering upon the forest as thor- oughly as the forest itself, with the exception of the swamp lying near the lowest circling-station (table I, column 4). But, in order to have something for comparison, I wrote a flora-list over two of the vegetation-groups bordering on the forest and which were nearest to the forest-land I circled, i. e. the heather-tracts and the Grimmia heath. At the uppermost edge of the forest and a bit downwards alongside it, was the Grimmia heath zone with scanty phan- erogam-vegetation. Higher up the vegetation gradually grew less and at the top were fell-fields, and the fell-fields-vegetation was of frequent occurrence among the Grimmia heath. Therefore, it is possible that in the plant-list some plants are included, which rather belong to the feli-field vegetation than to Grimmia heath. Here follows a list over the pre- dominant plants, and which I noticed in this place. H Agroatis tenuis . Ez H Elyna Bellardi A3 Ch Arabis petræa . A. Ch Empetrum nigrum Ei Ch Armeria vulgaris .
