RUMANIA UNDER IRON
RULE.
A Royal Decree was issued in Bucharest'
in the early hours of this morning, dis-
solving the Parliament and abolishing the
Constitution. Dictatorial pov/ers are pla-

the new Prime Minister.
This drastic action follows the serious
riots that occured in many towns on Tues-
day night and the resignation of the Ca-
binet headed by General Gigurtu. It is
now known that the clashes were much
more serious that was at first thought. In
one town, Constanza, 45 people were kil-
led and many more injured.
General Antonescu summoned high
Generals of the Rumanian Army to the
Capital last night, for consultation, and ic
i.s understood that the new regime will
'énforce the ceding of Transylvania to
Hungary and crush all opposition. It is
also understood that the Axis powers have
been assured by the new Dictator that the
Vienna Award will be carried out.
Yesterday there were demonstrations in
several towns against the Axis powers. In
two towns Italian Consulates were wrec-
ked.
