This species, which belongs to the group Erythrosþerma, in its habit and the
shape of the leaves and the fruits, very closely resembles T. hofilites M.P.Chr.,
but it is more slender in growth, and differs from the latter in the narrower outer
bracts and female flowers. The unripe fruit was yellow with a reddish tint.—The
species is also very similar in its general appearance to T. zermattense Dahlst., but
the latter has conspicuous, broad, membranous margins in the outer bracts.

3. Taraxacum brachycranum Dahlst.
T. fulvum Raunk. subsp. brachycranum Dahlst.: De svenska arterna av slagtet
Taraxacum. I Erythrosperma. II Obliqua, 1921, p. 124.—T. fallax Pettersson:
Eklund (1934).—Exsicc. H. Dahlstedt: Taraxaca skandinavica exsiccata, Fasc. IV
(1934) N :o 51 et Fasc. VI (1917) N :o 17: T. brachycranum Dahlst.—M.P.Chr.
Plate I, fig. 3.
T. brachycranum Dahlst. seems to be closely related to T. fulvum Raunk., T.
dentosum M.P.Chr., T. isthmicola Lindb. fil. and others. Together they form an
easily distinguishable group, a transition between the groups Erythrosperma and
Vulgaria, T. dentosum has, for instance, earlier been classed with Vulgaria.
No doubt introduced.
Habitat: Home-fields.
Localities: Akureyri, l.VIII.1935, fr., and 22.VII.1937, Blönduós, 15.VII.1937,

dalur, 23.VII.1937, Reykjahlíð at Mývatn, 24.VII.1937, Siglufjörður, 30.VII.1937,
